What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching Rogue Singularity onto Steam Early Access to build a community that is directly involved in informing and supporting the production of the game. We love how Rogue Singularity is coming together, but we want to push it to the next level of quality which requires extensive playtesting and feedback. Several of our features require careful balancing and pressure testing, so Early Access is the best beta process for Rogue Singularity on PC.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately six to twelve months. The duration of our time in Early Access will depend on the performance of features being added, the feedback from the community, and our work with consultants helping put the finishing touches on Rogue Singularity. At all times, we will communicate our progress and projected schedule with our community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build represents the soul of Rogue Singularity. The core gameplay, world, and the majority of features are all here. Our final release will include more features, more customisation options, secret levels and more. We need the Early Access experience to appropriately implement in all this additional content.

An end-game mode called the Black Hole is currently in development. The Black Hole consists of a shared galaxy map of difficult levels, where every player is competing to be the first to finish levels and progress the map. Completing a unique level for the first time will immortalise the players name in a searchable galaxy. We will implement Steam features including achievements, trading cards, cloud saves and localisation for the game into French, Italian, German, and Spanish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of the game includes a complete main campaign, which includes 5 different zones/themes, boss fights, leaderboards, and ghosts/speedrun data to race against. Full unlockable visual character customisation and player ability selection is also included in the Early Access build of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the Early Access price and the full release price will be the same (excluding discounts and promotions).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our primary means of communication with Rogue Singularity players during Early Access will be through the Steam forums. We will communicate regularly via our social media channels and mailing list. Everyone can also email us at steam@considerablecontent.com with any feedback or questions at any time - we love hearing from you!

From these sources, as well as our analytics and observations of player in-game experiences, the Considerable Content will regularly aggregate player suggestions and feedback. Through careful measurement with this information and input, we will make the improvements and changes that matter to players the most.”

Nintendo Switch version submitted! Let’s celebrate with a Steam update! 🤖💨

Big news, Rogue Singularity fans!

The Nintendo Switch edition of Rogue Singularity has been submitted to Nintendo for certification.

Once it’s passed certification we’ll put it up on the Nintendo eShop, and we’ll be launching the official final version on Steam the same day. In other words, after a long time in early access, Rogue Singularity is very, very close to a full official release on Steam!

This is a huge milestone for us. Our Early Access players have been incredibly patient with us tweaking the gameplay, experimenting with new features, and just generally changing stuff around. We’ve learned a lot from your feedback and all of you have helped us to make Rogue Singularity the best game it could possibly be. We’re absolutely thrilled to be so close to delivering a complete game to you all.

To celebrate this milestone, we have uploaded a new Steam build for you all. This isn’t the official final version quite yet, but it does have a pile of new content, bug fixes, and polish that we’re sure you’ll love.

Thanks as always for your support. It feels like we’re finally coming to the end of a very long journey (we started making Rogue Singularity almost 4 years ago!) and it’s been wonderful to have so many of you awesome people join us along the way.

To keep on top of the latest news, check out our Twitter account.

See you on the other side of the official release!

Much robotic love,
Scott and Ed of Considerable Content

New features coming as we close in on our official v1.0 release

Hello you awesome speed-runners!

We’ve been a little quiet for the last couple of months because we’ve been hard at work on the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game with an expanded team. We don’t have a concrete release date to announce quite yet, but we can tell you that Nintendo Switch and Steam versions will launch on the same day, and we’re really close to announcing the date.

We’re SO CLOSE!

In the meantime, we have some cool stuff to announce. In addition to new PC features, while working on porting the game to Switch we designed a bunch of new features that we liked so much we decided backwards-port them into the PC as well. (“Backwards-port” is totally a real thing and definitely not a term we just made up.)

Some of the cool things that will be in the game when it launches include:
  • Major improvements to the user interface (seriously, it’s SO much better)
  • Gameplay video recording and one-touch screenshots to capture your finest moments
  • A full set of Steam achievements and trading cards for the completionists
  • A major overhaul of balancing and difficulty to make the whole experience flow better

Of course, we have to take some time off, and over the holiday period we got to play some games that other people have made (instead of just testing the Black Hole over and over). Scott got stuck into Uncharted: Lost Legacy, the re-released Deadpool game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Dream Daddy. Meanwhile, Ed got deeply into Secret World Legends, Overwatch, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Offworld Trading Company.

Thanks for being an early adopter. All of your feedback, suggestions, and bug reports have been vital for making Rogue Singularity the game it is, and we’re eternally grateful.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned! We’ll have more to announce…

About This Game

Rogue Singularity is a high-speed infinite obstacle course inspired the classic 3D platformers of the 1990s.

A wandering black hole – a rogue singularity, in fact – has crashed into your star system, turning countless worlds into floating debris. You control a plucky little robot, traversing the remnants of these worlds while dodging hazards, escaping hostile creatures, and solving devious puzzles. Every level is procedurally generated, so you will never play the same game twice.

Customize your robot hero and prepare for a challenge, on Windows PC, Mac and Linux.

Rogue Singularity takes players back to the golden age of third-person precision platformers, ideal for speedrunning.

Your first job is simply to survive. Each level is packed with hazards, and simply getting from one end to the other with your robot in one piece will be a challenge. As your skills grow, you will be challenged not not only survive, but to reach the end of the level in the fastest possible time. Tackle a level that has been shared through the online community, and you will even be able to race against the ghost of the fastest player.

No level will be the same twice. Each location in Rogue Singularity is procedurally generated for infinite replayability, but any level you successfully complete is shared with the rest of the community. Master the level, share it, and you’ll set the pace for others to strive for as they jostle for the #1 spot on the leaderboard.

There are also weekly challenges which allow you only one chance to make it to the end safely and get your time on the leaderboard. Will you be the fastest survivor?

  • Precision platforming! Surviving this 3D world requires reflexes and precision.
  • An infinite galaxy! Every level of every playthrough is a unique procedurally-made experience.
  • Challenge the world! Share your completed levels with the world and engage in weekly challenges.
  • Tight controls! The game’s controls have been precision engineered to be ultra-responsive.
  • A bizarre universe! Robot monkeys, giant bees, mechanical sharks and more will keep you on your toes.
  • Build that ‘bot! Customize your robot with hundreds of pieces that can be recombined in millions of ways.
  • Tap those toes! Enjoy the hybrid chiptune-electronica soundtrack by Derris Kharlan (Time Surfer).
