What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are committed to the development of Endless Space Scrap. However, this program allows us to listen the players, start our community, and communicate with them through the resources that Steam provides to players.

Our development studio is the same as the publisher, so we also want to leverage the tools Steam provides to iterate on this development, constantly improving the product, always listening to players, to polish the game that interested players want and deserve when it launches.

Note: We do not depend on, nor do we intend to survive through Early Access, we have enough resources and preparation to face the full development cycle of the game, in fact we have already estimated a time range for the completion of the game, you can see it in "Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?"”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We love video game development, and we're committed to completing this project even if it takes longer. Keep in mind that time is directly related to the amount of player support we get through Early Access. In the best-case scenario, we believe we can complete it in about two years. In the worst-case scenario, we believe we can finish it in four years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay won't change much. This game doesn't have grand aspirations; we want to achieve a good, polished, fun, and accessible game. Therefore, we're not going to overcomplicate development to exploit its strengths.

We plan to add gradually while it is in Early Access, different weapons, upgrades, maps, and enemies, also with the visual and audio aspects, we intend to improve those aspects the best as we can during the process.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All features are listed in the "About This" section, please check that section for details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, there will be a one-time purchase fee for the game during Early Access, but we intend to remove it during Early Access or as soon as the final version is released. We want the final version of the game to be accessible, so we plan for it to be free. However, I think you can understand that the goal of Early Access is to raise funding to extra help for develop the game. We want to compensate players for any Early Access costs they spend, but we can't guarantee anything because it depends on the support we receive during the program.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be releasing updates and trying to include role-playing throughout the process so players can integrate into the world we're developing. Additionally, we will be closely monitoring all the resources Steam provides for players to express themselves. It's very important to us that the game is on the right track, so we welcome any comments, suggestions, or concerns players may have.”
