About This Game

The King has ordered the reclamation of Nil: a forgotten archipelago seized by the necromancer.

Lead a growing band of survivors as you rebuild settlements, earn the trust of the mysterious remaining islanders, survive nightly raids, and uncover the secrets of the ancient Nexuses. Each island is its own struggle — and the necromancer has control over them all.

Reclaim the islands of Nil before the necromancer can prepare his assault on the wider world.

Take Direct Control

Nights of Nil combines action gameplay with settlement management.

Switch between any villager in your settlement and take direct control of their abilities:

• Gather wood, stone, food, and other resources.

• Fight goblins, slimes, barbarians, raiders, and undead monstrosities.

• Build homes, farms, barracks, outposts, and defenses.

• Explore ruins, discover hidden locations, and complete objectives.

• Assign villagers to jobs, then leave them to work autonomously.

Every survivor is part of the settlement — but any one of them can become your character at a moment’s notice.

Reclaim Each Island

Every island follows a focused progression from survival to liberation.

Find the island’s remaining inhabitant and complete their quest chain to earn their trust. Their knowledge will deliver the key to activate the Nexus — the ancient structure the necromancer has corrupted to control the island.

Then prepare your settlement, recruit your forces, and face the necromancer himself.

When the necromancer is defeated, he retreats to the next island, leaving the land behind him reclaimed. The survivors you meet may join your traveling roster, bringing new abilities and stories to the campaign.

Survive the Nights

The nights are the pressure that drives your campaign forward.

As darkness falls, monsters emerge from the wilds and raid your settlement, targeting your well and threatening everything you have built. The longer you remain on an island, the stronger these attacks become.

Build defenses, recruit workers and soldiers, expand your settlement’s influence, and decide when you are ready to activate the Nexus and face it's challenge. Waiting can give you time to prepare — but it also gives the necromancer's forces time to grow stronger.

Build a Civilization

Resources, recruits, and knowledge carry across your entire journey through Nil.

• Recruit workers, governors, warriors, rangers, knights, and unique characters.

• Build outposts to expand your settlement’s territory and improve access to resources.

• Protect your governors, who are essential to growing your population.

• Bring your best villagers with you to help reclaim future islands.

Every island adds to the strength of your civilization — but every loss makes the next one harder.

Meet the Survivors of Nil

Each island has characters who remember what happened before necromancer arrived.

Help them restore their homes, recover lost belongings, and uncover the truth behind the ancient Nexuses. Their quests reveal the history of Nil and provide the knowledge needed to break the necromancer's hold.

The people you save are more than quest-givers. Many become permanent members of your roster, allowing you to take control of them and carry their strengths into the rest of the campaign.

Drive Back the Necromancer

He is not a series of disconnected bosses. He is the same enemy throughout the entire campaign.

He appears at each Nexus with new abominations and a growing desperation to hold onto Nil. Defeat his minions and he will retreat — taunting you, warning you, and waiting on the next island.

Pursue him across the archipelago and dismantle his staging ground one Nexus at a time.
