What is Talescape?

Talescape is an interactive storytelling platform where you can play stories and create your own. Every story is written and shaped by human creators, with player choice at the center of the experience.

Talescape is where Visual Novels meet Point & Click adventures. If you want stories that feel personal, intentional, and emotionally clear, this is the space they are built for.

Stories on Talescape cover a wide emotional range, from comforting and quiet to unsettling and strange. Your choices do not just move the plot forward, they shape how the story feels and what stays with you.

Dream Types are Talescape’s way to describe the emotional tone of a story. They are not genres, tags, or content warnings. They are a promise about how a story wants to feel while you play it, so you can browse by mood and pick the kind of experience you want right now.

Daydream stories are light, warm, and forward looking. They tend to give you room to breathe, with choices that feel like small acts of care or courage. The feeling is hopeful, even when things get messy.

Nightmare stories lean into tension, unease, and the feeling that something is wrong. They are meant to unsettle, to raise questions, and to keep you alert. The tone can be harsh or intimate, but it is always deliberate.

Vision stories are surreal, abstract, or hard to pin down in a good way. They do not always explain themselves, and they do not need to. You explore meaning through mood, imagery, and the way choices reshape what you think is happening.

Echo stories are quiet, reflective, and memory driven. They focus on what remains after a moment passes: regret, tenderness, distance, longing. The choices often feel less like winning and more like understanding.

Dreamers and Bards

Talescape serves two kinds of people, and both belong here: the ones who want to get lost in stories, and the ones who want to craft them.

Dreamers

  • Browse stories by how they feel, not just what they are.

  • Make choices, follow threads, and uncover different outcomes.

  • Support the creators you like, and keep your library in one place.

Bards

  • Build interactive stories with a visual workflow designed for writers and small teams.

  • Test as you go, catch mistakes early, then publish updates when you are ready.

  • You stay the author, the platform handles distribution.

Editor and Creation Tools

The editor is visual and no code. You build scenes, choices, and outcomes by arranging story pieces instead of writing scripts.

Talescape is made for iteration. You can preview your story at any point, test different paths, and use built in validation to catch broken links, missing content, and release blockers before you publish.

When it is ready, publishing is a guided process. Your story becomes discoverable to Dreamers without turning your project into a technical puzzle.

Business Model and Fairness

Talescape is built to be sustainable without squeezing creators.

Bards keep ownership of their stories. Publishing gives the platform the right to host and distribute your work, but it does not take it away from you.

Revenue share is straightforward: the platform takes a small service fee, and the creator keeps the majority. The goal is a marketplace that can run long term, while rewarding the people who write the stories.

Talescape's Mission

Talescape is for people who still want stories with a human voice.

We believe there should be a place for both playing and creating. A space where worlds can be explored, and where personal stories can be shaped with care.

Talescape is developed by Aureola, an independent studio from Dortmund, Germany. Our goal is to protect a space where imagination can speak freely and responsibly, and where stories are meant to last, not be consumed and discarded.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Talescape itself does not generate AI content. However, creators (“Bards”) may choose to include AI-generated text, images, voices, or music in their own stories. Such use must be clearly disclosed within each story and comply with Talescape’s Content Guidelines. The platform includes moderation and labeling systems to ensure transparency and prevent inappropriate or infringing AI content.

Some promotional and interface artworks shown on this store page, including example story visuals and certain UI elements, were created using generative AI during the design phase. No AI-generated content is included in the software logic or gameplay systems.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Talescape itself contains no explicit or adult content. However, it allows user-generated stories created by independent authors (“Bards”). Some stories may include mature themes or imagery if properly labeled according to Talescape’s Content Guidelines. Such content is optional, community-moderated, and clearly marked for age-appropriate audiences.
