Leaving Early Access: September 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While we are still working on some additions, we would already like to hear your honest feedback so we can immediately work on anything that still needs improvement. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“September 2026”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“After many requests for deeper gameplay, I’m now adding better game mechanics. The final version will feature a society system with social groups that influence how districts look. Also I will add a more comfortable way to place streets (click and drag). Besides this, there will also be a short tutorial within the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can build a city-scape, increase the population and earn special buildings as rewards. Please do not expect more at this point.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I will slightly increase the price once the game is more complex.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“You can contact me with any suggestions you may have or any problems you encounter. I will answer all and try to implement whatever is possible.”

About This Game

Note: This current Pixelpolis Neon early access version is not much more than a simple city-scape builder and will still change drastically.

The finished Pixelpolis Neon will be a cyberpunk city building game inspired by the style of SimCity 2000, reimagined in a neon-lit pixel art setting. However, while SimCity 2000 mostly focused on contemporary city building, Pixelpolis Neon imagines a city in an AI controlled future, with  manufacturing and basic city supplies already being fully managed with artificial intelligence and robots. After a massive restructuring of the global economy at the beginning of the 21st century, accompanied by countless ideas and approaches about what a global society should look like, three distinct social groups ultimately emerged.

There are the Synth Punks (color: pink), who simply want to enjoy life. They love gaming, parties, and a chaotic lifestyle with as few rules as possible. Then there are the Cyborgs (color: blue), who strive for a highly structured and technologically advanced environment. Their goal is continuously evolving technology and the fusion of humans and machines. In stark contrast, the Traditionals (color: orange) uphold time-honored values, cherish their human existence, and enjoy engaging in art and craftsmanship.

Pixelpolis Neon now tasks you with managing a city where all three groups are satisfied. To do this, you must not only define three distinct districts but also regularly make decisions that support one group or another. If you neglect a group, its residents will gradually turn away and seek out another city. Groups you support will further develop their districts and quickly increase your city’s population.

Pixelpolis Neon adopts the new approach of some city-building games, where not only the construction of roads and buildings matters, but also the management of the city’s social structures. This is an aspect that is becoming increasingly important even in the real world – especially at a time when society is increasingly fragmenting into different ideologies.
