Microlandia is a city builder that combines a cute, classic look and feel with a deep socioeconomic simulation under the hood, modeled after real-world research and statistics.

Build a city from the ground up

Plan a city where people will live and work. Lay down roads and a bus network. Build hosuing, businesses and public works of many types and each with different abilites and tradeoffs.

Every citizen counts

All residents of your city are simulated one by one. They hold a job at a company, pay rent to a greedy landlord, they can get sick and need a functional hospital with appropriate staffing and capacity. If they stay broke long enough, they consider a carreer in the criminal underworld. None of this is random, but second-order effects from your choices as a mayor.

Policy matters

You set the rates of income, sales and corporate taxes. You charge for business licenses, bus fares, parking fees and more. Set rates too high and the cost of living will be unbearable. Set it too low and you won't collect enough revenue. Whatever you choose, will shape your economy. Watch out for your approval ratings, citizens vote, and you lose the game when they vote for your rival.

The city talks back

A newspaper covers everything happening in your city. Crime reports with real addresses. Unemployment statistics will be exact. Every story emerges from what's happening in your city and you will be blamed for all the bad news. Every five years, a random incident hits and will test yourxw planning abilities: Heatwaves, Cyberattacks, Recessions, and more.

Modeled after real cities

We're commited to make the most advanced socioeconomic simulation in the history of city builders, for that, we modeled our simulation after research and data from sources like World Bank, OECD and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The idea is to present challenges that exist in (and teach us about) real life. All the simulation parameters and the sources are published in our website.

Active development

The game is under active development and we have ambitious plans for years to come. There will be no DLCs or Microlandia 2. Instead, we will keep updating and improving the base game. There will never be in-game purchases, because we believe it's the worst invention since pineapple in pizza.
