What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to build the game alongside a community of players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly two years at most. I want to feel like I have a good roster of players and gameboards to call the game a complete package. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More gameboards, more game modes and more characters with their own cards to choose from. The skeleton of the game should remain the same if not evolve and improve into something more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I have one game board, roughly 40 cards and two characters.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No the price should remain the same. Players in early access might receive a special achievement or something to show they supported the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Polls, comments and feedback. I'll use update notes to inform the players of new polls and questions they can respond to, to help shape the final game.”

About This Game

CardBoard seeks to create a genre between games like "Plumber" Party and Slay The "Tower". Blending the tabletop aspects of different party games with the strategy of roguelike deckbuilders. Gather some friends or play by yourself and see if you've got what it takes to different the ruler of each board.

CardBoard allows for everyone to be the character they want, no healer required.*
You can preview the starting deck of your character and see which characters your teammates choose before heading out to a board.

In the rare cases you might want to change your class before clicking that big green Begin button. Remember though, just because a character started as a tank, doesn't mean he can't carry the group with heals later on.

Characters move around the board based off the dice they roll. Each character has different dice which amount to different movement capabilities. One character might be able to roll a single D20, while another might have to roll two D6's to determine movement. The D20 might allow one to travel the board faster and complete a deck sooner. However, their cards will require more investment and upgrades to reach the same power as someone with slower movement.

Even if you don't pass a shop doesn't mean you won't get something good just for landing on it. It's one of the spaces in CardBoard that grants different rewards when you land on them. Although, Red and Blue spaces are static in the rewards and punishments you receive.

There are tons of ways to get new cards and items around the board. One of the those ways are Shops. Currently there are two types, a card shop and an item shop. Card shops can only accept cards and gold, while Item shops accept items and gold. You can either decide to buy individual cards/items or select to get packs. Packs are based off the character you picked and could contain any card/item in the game... good or bad.

I hope everyone has fun with the upcoming demo. Look forward to more characters and boards in the future!
