About This Game

Paris, 1888. Marie de Saint-Marc goes into debt with a businessman to take over her grandmother's marriage agency. Now she has 7 days to find a wife for her creditor's nephew, or the agency goes bankrupt. But… everyone in this case is lying! From the client to the suitors, every character has something to hide, and it will take real detective skills to finally let love triumph!

L'Agence – The Hearts of Paris is an Ace Attorney-style detective visual novel (with elements of The Case of the Golden Idol) that takes you on a journey through late 19th-century Paris, recreated in Art Nouveau style.

Paris, 1888: a game rooted in history

• Settings drawn from the archives: every location (Les Halles, Montmartre, the Eiffel Tower under construction…) was designed from period photographs, then redrawn by hand in Art Nouveau style.

• A portrait of 1888 France: each character embodies a facet of the society of the time, and some are inspired by people who really existed.

• Historical research in the spotlight: the idea for the game comes from the academic book Pas sérieux s'abstenir (Serious Inquiries Only) by historian Claire-Lise Gaillard. With this game, 1888 Studio wants to bring historical research to a wider audience.

• Dig deeper: commentary, a sourced encyclopedia and links let you learn more about the period, if you feel like it.
