What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Police Chief is designed as a community-driven project. From the very beginning, supporters and players have been part of shaping the game. Early Access allows us to involve the community directly, gather feedback, and expand the game together. We believe this approach is the best way to make Police Chief as realistic, fun, and customizable as possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Police Chief to remain in Early Access for around 3 years. This timeframe gives us the opportunity to steadily add features, polish systems, and work closely with the community. Our goal is that version 1.0 feels like a complete and finished game, not just “good enough to launch.””

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Police Chief focuses on establishing the foundation of the game. It includes the core law enforcement gameplay, basic department management, AI interaction, a large open-world map, and both singleplayer and multiplayer functionality. Players can patrol, respond to incidents, manage staff, and experience the main systems that form the core gameplay loop.

During Early Access, our focus is on refining these systems, improving stability and performance, and expanding features based on player feedback. Multiplayer and AI systems are still being developed and will continue to evolve as development progresses.

The full version of Police Chief is planned to build on this foundation with more depth, content, and player options. We aim to expand gameplay variety, introduce new agency types, improve management tools, and offer broader modding support. Our goal is for the full release to represent a more polished and feature-rich version of the experience, shaped closely with input from the community throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Police Chief is currently in an alpha stage. The Early Access version includes the foundation of the core experience: basic multiplayer, responding to calls for service, ambient events, and the first steps of police simulation and roleplay. Early versions of vehicle handling, AI, and department management are also available. As an alpha, players should expect bugs, incomplete features, and ongoing changes. Content and systems will be expanded and improved throughout Early Access with community feedback guiding development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price will be lower to reflect the alpha state of the game. As Police Chief grows with more content, features, and polish, the price is planned to increase closer to full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is central to Police Chief. Feedback will be collected through our Discord server, regular livestreams, and direct interaction with the developer in open voice channels where anyone can join. Supporters and players will have the opportunity to test builds early, share ideas, and help shape the game as development progresses.”

In Police Chief we use AI tools to support development in creative ways, never for coding or game logic. AI helps us generate things like:
