What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is being released in Early Access because only part of the story content is currently complete. Early Access allows us to gradually add new chapters, improve narrative and technical quality, and take player feedback into account during development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is expected to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 10 months, depending on the amount of player feedback and the pace of development. During this time, we plan to complete the remaining chapters and prepare the game for its full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will feature a complete story, additional chapters, and new illustrations that fully tell the story. We also plan to improve sound design, update earlier artwork, and add several alternative endings.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently includes 4 out of 6 chapters. The complete game is planned to offer approximately 2–3 hours of gameplay. The current Early Access version provides around 1 hour of gameplay, or up to about 1 hour and 20 minutes when exploring all available story branches.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game may increase after Early Access as new content is added and the game approaches its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will closely monitor player feedback through Steam reviews and discussion forums, and take community suggestions into account when developing updates and new content. Players will also be able to follow the development of the game through our official Telegram channel, which will be regularly updated with news.”

About This Game

Kupala is a mystical visual novel in the genres of horror, drama, and folklore, inspired by Slavic legends and ancient rituals.

This is an Early Access version of Kupala.
The current version offers approximately 1 hour of gameplay, or up to about 1 hour and 20 minutes for players who wish to explore multiple story branches. At this stage, players can already make choices that influence the direction of the story, unlocking different outcomes.
The full version is planned to offer approximately 2.5–3 hours of total gameplay.

Little Anya arrives at her grandmother’s house together with her family, who are going through difficult times, on the eve of Kupala Night — the most important night for pagan Slavs. Among the creaking floorboards of the old house, in the warmth of her grandmother’s tales and the deceptive comfort of village life, Anya senses the approach of a mystical night when ancient spirits awaken.

The full version will feature a non-linear narrative with multiple possible endings, as well as meaningful choices that affect the fate of Anya and her family. Not every decision will be easy — only you can determine whether Anya survives.

The game is currently in active development. A free demo version, Kupala Demo, is also available and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The demo is designed to introduce the characters and convey the game’s atmosphere — the coziness of a rural home, the anxious anticipation of the coming celebration, and a slowly building sense of suspense.

All visual assets are hand-drawn using line art and linocut-inspired techniques. All sound effects and music used in the game are royalty-free and not protected by copyright. The game will be available in Russian and English.
Please leave your feedback — it will help make the full version even better.
