Why Early Access?

“The game is in a very early state, however, I decided to release in early access so that I can receive feedback. I am a solo developer after all, so feedback is very important to my process.

I plan on keeping a somewhat small scope, & focusing on quality over quantity of features, in order to hopefully ensure a reasonable release window.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is, at the very least, 1 year from release, but it may be extended depending on the progress of the game. My plan is to release the game in roughly 2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I Plan to Add:

-Many Track Maker Objects

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a very early, but play-able, state. It is currently focused on the sandbox elements. There are currently no online features or multiplayer.

-5 place-able objects
-10 track types
-1 mode (Time Attack)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I will gradually raise the price as I add more content. This means early adopters of the game will get it for a bit cheaper. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to keep doing what I'm doing now, posting frequent updates, inviting people to the game on multiple social media platforms, such as Tiktok, X (Twitter), Youtube, Instagram / Facebook, Reddit & elsewhere. Find me as "DreamMixGames".

I also have a Discord community where I talk to my players. You can use the official Discord, to ask questions about the game or share your own tracks, videos, modding content, & more.

All of these sources are great for genuine feedback as well, as people are just seeing the game for the first time in a lot of cases & don't have any kind of attachment to it. This means more raw feedback, which is great for the development of the game.”

About This Game

Mythic Kart Maker is fantasy kart racing level editor, with vehicular combat, whimsical characters, & a vibrant 3D prerendered art-style, with gameplay akin to classic "kart racers".

Make your own course while you drive, using your player as a brush. It's the best way to create a course without thinking about it. You naturally make something that feels good to drive through, without having to test it. I've lost hours testing my game, without noticing it, so make sure to take a break!

Placing track tiles while driving

The carousel system was created to make placing objects and navigating the menus easy & fun using a keyboard or the controller. Pressing up & down on d pad or arrows switches categories. Pressing left & right switches objects! All effects, music, & everything needed to craft your track are made as simplified as possible so it's just relaxing to make a track. You won't need to remember to press CTRL+X+π+△ to place a tree. 😏Placing objects

Place a finish line, & you're ready to race.

It's time to test your track. In test mode, collisions will be enabled, & all track effects will be enabled as well. Starting a race is as easy as stalling for a moment before the finish line. To start time attack, just breeze through the finish line.

Did I mention the driving is incredibly fun here? The boring police came & tried to arrest me for focusing on fun racing. I'm not worried about making a realistic driving sim - that's not why you're here. I've merged the best aspects from all of the best kart racers - a certain bandicoot, the best middle aged plumber, & I even took some tips from a spikey blue guy. While those games inspired me, the Mythic world is it's own place, & the physics in this game feel super unique.

Drifting is very lenient & highly controllable (in order to make courses extra fun to develop). Drift boosting is slider based, & isn't separated into 3 phases, encouraging you to maximize your drift. Boosting feels incredible, thanks to smooth camera shifts & effects such as "speed lines". Handling is very good for all vehicles - no one is driving a tank here. Gameplay differences per character will focus on the character's combat skills. Everyone will drive just as well, which I think will encourage trying out different racers to see who fits your combat style!

The world also has it's own cast of characters (which may have their own games one day). I will reveal more about them as the game progresses.
