About This Demo

Sabbatical in Merzouga is a visual novel where you play as a student on a sabbatical. Explore the city of Merzouga and discover a creature that haunts you at night.

The choices you make will determine the ending of the story.

DEMO GAME FEATURES:

• A short branching narrative with player choices that shape the flow of the dream.

• 5 dream nights where you interact with the worm.

• One ending exclusive to the demo (the full version contains all 8 endings).

• Atmospheric background art of the cabin, desert, and worm.

• Subtle sound design and music to heighten the mystery.

• Playtime: around 10–15 minutes for one complete demo run.

The DEMO version includes one ending, with a playtime around 25 minutes.

We use AI in early conceptual design, to figure out an appropriate background art. We then go through several iterations manually with artist modifications, to produce a good, highly polished background that gels well with our characters, story and intended art style.
Our characters are hand drawn by humans.
Our objects are hand drawn by humans.
All user interface (UI) elements are hand drawn by humans.
All animations are hand drawn and meticulously rigged (also by humans) using bone animation.
