What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is to allow players who prefer to play solo to be able to play the game without having to wait for the planned Multiplayer feature.

Our main goal for early access is to test the developed Multiplayer feature using the Steam features such as lobbies and invitations.

A secondary goal is for us to gather feedback from a wider audience .”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“2 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include a multiplayer option which is already developed but currently being tested to use Steam lobbies and invitations. We plan to look at the possibility of providing some smaller set piece scenarios designed for the multiplayer game .

We plan to use the early access period to consider addition features that do not impact the game code such as game data, explosion or other graphical effects. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All features listed in the game details are fully developed and tested and are being shipped in the early access version .

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to monitor feedback submitted via the community, or directly to the support email address. We do not plan to change the main game code. However we plan to consider minor changes such as game data tweaking to adjust game play .

About This Game

As mankind takes its first steps into deep space they encounter an old enemy, the SEIDDAB. The player controls up to 9 ships which can be sent on missions flown remotely by the player or his co-pilots.  The  scenario spans several star systems and is gradually revealed as each sector is explored and warp gates are discovered.

Designed  retro style to run on a general laptop or pc  rather than High spec. games machines.

Missions:

PIONEER new warp paths to find where they lead.

SURVEY new sectors to map them and use stealth to scan unidentified features or enemy bases.

PROSPECT  several resource types to collect vital resource and ship it to a processing plant.

DEPLOY base parts or munitions. These are collected from a base then shipped to there deployment point.

FREIGHT can be shipped between bases

MILITARY missions range from attack, defence , hunting intruding craft or supporting other missions.

SALVAGE freight, base parts or munitions when they have been abandoned in combat.

Open world.

The player can choose to fly missions or just act freelance, They can buy and sell freight, look for valuable resource and sell it to the highest bidder Unscrupulous pilots can accept renegade missions or switch off their FOF to go off grid and try to force other pilots to abandon their cargo.  However if identified they will have a bounty put on them. The player can hunt wanted ships.  It is designed to have the feel of a huge multiplayer game with over 500 ships interacting in real time. Every thing the player does affects the development of the players faction and can tip the balance of  the conflict.  The player gains  experience  and credits when actually flying a ship.   Co-pilots earn the player a share of credits but gain experience themselves.

Combat.

This ranges from first person dog fighting or controlling multiple gun banks in up to 4 directions on  capital ships which can give devastating broadsides.  Energy and shields can be managed and damage controls adjusted manually or left to the ships AI.  Weapons include beam weapons, missiles, mines, plasma shells and decoys. Ships can have up to 4 electronic enhancements including stealth, jamming or various power ups. Ships can also have boosters fitted for emergency action.  Ships are flown remotely so pilots are safe when ships are destroyed. The ship however has to be replaced.

Scenario Generator.

This allows players to customise the size and difficulty of scenarios by adjusting the  number of systems for each side and the development.  Unexplored systems can be added. This alters the style of the game from a fully populated scenario where combat is imminent to a sparsely populated space where exploration and building bases are the priority,

Spaceship Designer

The player can upgrade their ships by customise existing designs or construct new ones from a set of parts that expands as new technology becomes available.  Ships can be tested in the test combat arena while the game is running.

Save Game.

The game can be saved manually.

Co-pilot and ship monitoring.

The player can switch control  to and from a co-pilot at almost any point. This allows the  player to let the co-pilot take over if there is an action they do not want to control or to have a break without pausing the game.  The player can monitor their ships from the Ship Form,. They can group them into squads, assign them missions, swap co-pilots and order new ships or choose a ship for the camera to follow.

NPC.

The other pilots behave like player ships. They communicate with the player for assistance or can join forces with a player. NPC pilots gain experience depending on their missions accomplished and will be more formidable in combat.

Squads.

Players can group their ships into squads.  Squads may also contain NPC ships.  Several squads may be needed for some missions so the player's ship  may be a squad leader a fleet leader or just a squad follower. A carrier can be added to a squad to carry and rearm or repair damaged small ships.

Map.

A 3d map shows the  known star systems in the galaxy connected by pioneered warp paths. Each system can be viewed to show the sectors and any discovered sector warps. Each known sector can be viewed to show details of any surveyed features or identified ships. Enemy ships may appear as sightings.  The maps can be used to set a destination for the current ship. They also show the route of the current ship's mission.

Trade Forms.

Market price trends and volumes of each resource can be viewed. Resources can be bought from bases , prospected or salvaged.  Player owned resources can be traded with a base.

Multi-play.

Coming soon for 2 to 6 players across a local network or the web using Steam lobbies or invitations to recruit players.
