About This Game

About This Game

Rogue Den is a medieval fantasy colony sim where you manage a crew of rogues, run businesses, build your own hideout and try to make a living in a world full of trouble.

There's a war going on, and an army is stationed not far away. Wild orc tribes are looking for trouble. An abandoned mountain is home to spiders and other creatures, and there's a cursed graveyard that most sensible people would rather avoid.

And right in the middle of all this is your little operation.

You start with a small crew, a few resources and a boss who expects regular tribute. What you build from there is largely up to you.

Running Your Own Den

There's plenty to keep you busy, even without the dangers outside.

  • Build and expand your businesses. Produce goods, manage supplies, assign workers and earn the gold needed to keep growing.

  • Manage your crew. Recruit new people, develop their skills, choose their roles and make sure their needs are taken care of.

  • Develop your hideout. Construct new facilities, improve existing ones and decide where your limited resources should go.

  • Research and improve. Unlock new possibilities for your organization through development and research.

  • Explore underground. Venture into the canals beneath the city, face whatever lives down there and open the way to new areas.

  • Pay your dues. Your boss wants his share, whether business has been good or not.

Of course, running a business is easier when nothing goes wrong. Unfortunately, things do go wrong.

A World With Its Own Problems

The world doesn't revolve around you.

There's a war to worry about, orc tribes with little interest in peaceful cooperation, dangerous places to explore and people who have their own reasons for helping or opposing you.

Keeping your businesses running is one thing. Staying on good terms with the right people is another.

Not every situation is random. Some people have their own plans, certain events are already in motion, and your decisions can affect how things turn out.

Sometimes a small problem stays small. Sometimes it becomes something you'll have to deal with for quite a while.

Sometimes It's Better to Wait

Weather matters, and so does timing.

Some days are better suited for certain activities than others. You can prepare, plan your work and choose when to take risks.

But plans don't always survive contact with reality. Maybe you need those resources today. Maybe you've already committed your best people to another job. Or perhaps your next tribute payment is getting dangerously close.

You won't always have the luxury of waiting for better conditions.

Sometimes taking a risk is the only reasonable option.

And sometimes it's just a terrible idea that happens to work.

Above the Streets, Beneath the City

Your operation has two sides.

On the surface, you build businesses, earn money, manage your people and deal with the world around you.

Below the city, your hidden den continues to grow. There are canals to explore, new areas to reach and dangers that have nothing to do with unhappy customers or broken equipment.

Somewhere in that underground world lies the answer to what happened to the lost crown.

Whether you build a wealthy operation, make powerful friends or simply manage to survive another day, one thing is certain:

There's always something that needs doing. And the boss still wants his money.
