Reconfigure is a puzzle-action-adventure FPS from one of the creators of Legend of Grimrock games and Noita. The game challenges you to think vertically as you build and fight your way through an abandoned spaceship.

The Story

You're trapped aboard a runaway spaceship hurtling toward an unknown destination under crushing acceleration. The ship is being torn down and rebuilt - reconfigured for a new purpose - by swarms of service bots. With gravity pressing down relentlessly and resources running dry, you must build and fight your way through a maze of half-constructed corridors, deteriorating machinery and rearranged chambers to prevent the ship from reaching its ultimate destination.

Gameplay

Rapid acceleration of the spaceship causes high gravity which limits player movement. Instead of acrobatics you need to use various blocks to overcome obstacles and devious puzzles. Carry, push, climb, drop, magnetize, trigger buttons. Think and Reconfigure.

Action is slow paced and emphasizes getting by with scarce resources. A fast trigger finger won't help you as much as being calculated and calm.

Exploration is the key for maximizing your chances of survival. If you are perceptive and inventive you will be rewarded by discovering hidden stashes of equipment and resources.

Development

Reconfigure is currently in pre-alpha stage. Various gameplay systems are still pending validation via prototyping and some open questions still remain.

Some of the features that will be experimented on in the near future are:

•  Inventory, items and resources

•  Defining the scope for character development systems. Lightweight RPG character progression? Upgrading equipment? New abilities via items?

•  Puzzle system will be expanded with new block types.

•  Combat, AI, weaponry and player abilities will be expanded on and enhanced.

About the Developer

Hapatus is the creative outlet for solo projects of Antti Tiihonen. He is one of the masterminds behind Legend of Grimrock -series of dungeon crawling RPGs where he created tons of puzzles, levels, game design, audio and graphics for the games. He has also worked on titles such as Noita, Control, Alan Wake, Turbo Dismount 2 and Druidstone. His first solo-developed game, Stuffo the Puzzle Bot, bears many similarities to the puzzle systems of Reconfigure.
