About This Game

Welcome aboard the GrimRail.

GrimRail is a first-person psychological horror immersive sim. You wake aboard a purgatorial train rushing through the abyss with a cosmic radio fused to your wrist. You use it to navigate nightmare worlds rooted in the sins of the passengers riding beside you.

An eldritch horror watches, judges, remembers what you do. Every decision causes the world to react. This is judgment made physical, and the loop only ends when a soul finally faces what it did.

Death is no escape. The truth is your only ticket off the GrimRail.

Bend Reality with the Cosmic Radio

A device grafted to your arm. It hears what you cannot. Tune into hidden routes, memory signals, and the buried truths of every passenger. Some frequencies bend reality itself. Others cannot be heard at all.

Stealth or Force

Vastly divergent ability trees with real trade-offs, select from Stealth or Force abilities. Hide from their gaze, use cunning to endure, push deeper into their domains. Or fight. The monsters and the world respond to your playstyle, and adapt.

The World

Three other passengers ride beside you in the decaying luxury train car. They have been on this train a very long time, lost in a fog of broken memories. Each one carries a sin they refuse to face.

The Conductor is a primordial being older than time, the living mind of the train itself. He enforces the loop. He decides when the train stops. He uses the spreading corruption like a nerve network with eyes that watch and torment. He decides who is permitted to leave.

You are Arthur. You used to be a journalist. You woke up on the GrimRail with no memory of how you got here. The cosmic radio fused to your wrist is the only way to navigate this place.

The Passengers

By the end of the journey, you decide. Save the damned, or judge them. Each verdict decides whether a passenger earns release, repeats the loop, or stays in the hell they built for themselves.

A Living Train Hub Where the Damned Ride

Every loop returns you to the train.

The GrimRail is your hub between nightmare worlds. You spend the journey watching the passengers, pushing them, catching them in lies.

On the Roadmap

GrimRail is in active development. Here is where we are taking the game next.

  • The Entropy System

Repetition has a cost. The world keeps score.

The world reacts to how you play. Stealth-heavy runs draw out the things that hunt by sound. Force-heavy runs make every next encounter angrier. Commit to one approach and the GrimRail commits back. Traps appear where you used to be safe.

  • The Judgment-Based Dialogue System

Every line is evidence. Every silence is a verdict.

Every conversation is a chance to learn something a passenger has been hiding. Push them too hard and they go silent. Sympathize and you may protect someone you should have condemned. The passengers remember what you say and what you do.

  • Multiple Endings

Save the damned, or judge them.

Your choices shape every ending. Each run reveals something the last one hid.

You will love GrimRail if you're a fan of:

  • SOMA, existential horror and shifting realities

  • Dishonored, immersive sim depth and player agency

  • Disco Elysium, dialogue-driven moral choices

  • Mouthwashing, surreal psychological storytelling

The world remembers what you did.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Grimrail contains mature themes and imagery consistent with psychological and survival horror. Players may encounter:

Depictions of violence, blood, and death (including corpses and disturbing imagery).

Frightening scenes and psychological horror designed to unsettle.

Occasional references to suicide and criminal acts as part of the branching storyline.

Use of mild profanity and crude language during dialogue.

Portrayals of alcohol and tobacco use within character interactions.

All of these elements appear in service of the game’s narrative, puzzle design, and horror themes, and may vary depending on the player’s choices and the paths they uncover.
