About This Game

Be the Block is a puzzle game where your goal is to move every block on the board to its target. But instead of using a character to push the blocks around, you control the blocks directly.

At the core of the game is its multi-agent movement mechanic. Each block can move only in its assigned directions, and when you press an arrow key, every block able to move that direction does so simultaneously. This creates a world of satisfyingly simple yet challenging block-manipulation puzzles.

The design principle behind the puzzles is simplicity. It’s immediately obvious what needs to be done; the challenge is figuring out how. This also means the difficulty isn’t increased by adding more and more blocks, but by a clever manipulation of the win conditions. Compare this level to the previous GIF and you may notice that it is equally simple yet considerably more difficult.

A handful of additional mechanics are introduced as you progress, but all of them complement the main mechanic.

Be the Block is all about puzzles. There’s no story, no overworld, and no forced progression gates. It’s simply a collection of beautiful puzzles, all unlocked from the start. While you can tackle them in any order, you may find it easier to grasp the subtleties of each mechanic by playing them sequentially.
