What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because player feedback is incredibly important to us. The Box is Alive is a physics-based platformer, and community feedback helps us refine movement, level design, balance, and overall player experience. Early Access also gives us additional time to expand the game with new content and features while incorporating feedback from the people playing it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect The Box is Alive to remain in Early Access for approximately 4–6 months. During that time, we plan to release regular updates that add new content, mechanics, features, and polish as we work toward the full version of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to significantly expand the scope of the game. Some of the additions we are currently working toward include:

Additional levels, bringing the total planned level count to approximately eight.
New playable characters.
New gameplay mechanics, including the Slam ability.
A full boss encounter.
Additional cosmetic skins and collectibles.
Expanded narrative content and progression systems.
Additional game modes, such as challenge variants of levels and experimental cooperative modes where two players control the same box.

As development continues, plans may evolve based on player feedback and what we learn during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains roughly half of the planned game content and provides a solid representation of the core gameplay experience. Players can expect multiple levels, collectibles, progression systems, and the core movement mechanics that define The Box is Alive. Future updates are planned to introduce additional levels, mechanics, content, and quality-of-life improvements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently do not plan to change the game's price when it leaves Early Access. Our goal is to offer the same value to players throughout development while continuing to add content and improvements over time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is one of the primary reasons we're launching in Early Access. We plan to actively gather feedback through our in-game feedback tools, bug reporting systems, Steam discussions, Discord, social media, and playtesting sessions. Player feedback will help guide balancing, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and future content priorities throughout development.”
