In the seventh year of Zhushang, the heavens shuddered as the Blood Moon appeared.

Its crimson radiance corroded hearts and souls; all beings fell under its sway, slowly twisting into fiends.

For over a decade, the calamity raged on. Defenders perished on the battlefield or succumbed to corruption; even mighty cultivators who sought the Blood Moon’s source never returned. As the scourge grew, demonic armies pressed ever closer, and the mortal realm stood on the brink of ruin.

Under this oppressive tide, only a handful of steadfast and powerful cultivators abandoned their bodies, casting forth their primordial spirits to the Lingxu Palace, escaping corruption for a time.

At the brink of annihilation, the Lord of Lingxu Palace unearthed the Eye of Zhulong atop Mount Zhong, dispersing a fragment of the Blood Moon’s glow. He then burned his own soul and body, invoking the forbidden Soul-Return Ritual to restore fallen cultivators, buying a seven-day reprieve.
