About This Game

Overseas Wars is a real-time strategy game in which you’ll build and defend your base before setting out to conquer a fantasy universe where galleons, pirates, and feathered chieftains coexist. Through a story-driven campaign, you’ll discover the stories of characters in a new bustling world. You can also enjoy custom games to build and command powerful armies or perfect your combat tactics.

Whether you're a newcomer to the genre or a seasoned veteran of multitasking, Overseas Wars invites you to (re)discover many of the fundamentals of real-time strategy games, as well as exclusives mechanics, in a fun way.

Plan your strategy

Will you choose to establish a colony and ensure its survival in the face of the dangers of a new, unexplored land? Or are you there to claim the primacy of your tribe on its territory? Perhaps you prefer to recruit all kinds of pirates and outlaws to succeed in a lawless world?

Whatever path you choose, you will in most cases have to build and organize your base.

  • To achieve this, each faction has a variety of buildings and exclusive units offering their own advantages. For example, settlers can improve their buildings to make them more efficient and employ more workers, while pirates can bring their recruits directly by sea or through the nearest escape tunnel. The Panhutti natives, for their part, can adapt techniques of their warriors by constructing different totems.

  • Many development options will be available to you and you will have to choose where to invest your resources among research buildings, resource producing buildings and unit training buildings in order to recruit and improve the units corresponding to the strategy of your choice.

  • It is to be expected that your enemies will certainly not let you calmly prepare their defeat and that they will attempt multiple attacks to defeat you. To counter those you can build defenses, ranging from a simple observation post to a reinforced cannon tower, including traps and walls.

Explore new lands

  • In Overseas Wars you will explore rich territories where certain more or less hidden and more or less defended resources await whoever comes along. Along the way, you’ll discover areas ideal for large-scale battles and guerrilla warfare, as well as vantage points from where you can observe.

  • You will also come across points of interest and larger structures offering their owners valuable resources and new tactical or strategic opportunities. For example, stables will allow you to train riders, trading posts will offer you the possibility of exchanging resources and inns will provide places to rest your units before the upcoming battle.

  • You can obviously explore these places with a sentry troop or an outstanding tracker, or you can use the exploration tools inherent to your faction. Indeed, each faction has its own intelligence and interference system. Keep in mind that once you've discovered the enemy's base, you'll be able to monitor it and take some actions. Spies, thieves, and dirty tricks will all be part of the game.

Take on the battle

Battlefields in Overseas Wars can take many forms. You can besiege your opponent’s base with mortars and warships positioned far behind the front lines, witness naval battles and boarding actions, or launch devastating raids with your buffalo riders.

  • Overseas Wars will give you the chance to win battles even when you’re outnumbered. First, you’ll need thorough preparation : well-rested units, motivated by the sermons of a zealous inquisitor, will fight more effectively than cursed or sick units.
You’ll also need a sound strategy : by combining the tactical strengths of your units with the opportunities presented by the environment, you can gain the upper hand over your opponent.

If that’s not enough, you can use charging, retreating, and resting tactics to chip away at enemy numbers. Be careful, however, not to get caught off guard while resting.

  • Each faction also features some more unconventional units. Whether it’s the priest, the animist, or the mermaid, each has manual and automatic abilities that influence the course of battle and thus add depth to gameplay tactics.

  • With so much happening in the heat of battle, it’s easy to miss a decisive moment. That's why Overseas Wars offers a tactical pause that you can use at any time to observe the ongoing battle and issue your next orders to your troops. Furthermore, you can replay your games to identify turning points.

Overseas Wars offers a story-driven campaign and customizable games to players looking for a real-time strategy game combining base building and tactical combat. In a universe rich in fantasy and with a deep gameplay it ensure games very different from each other.
