What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I believe the game can become even better by continuing development based on ongoing feedback, not only on balance but also on various content planned for the future.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“While I can't say with certainty exactly when the game will be completed, the current goal is to develop toward a 1.0 release before the year 2026.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning to add a wider variety of abilities, items, and challenges, and are also considering new ways to enhance units within the game.
In addition, we are exploring the idea of introducing different types of tanks beyond the current one, with the goal of expanding the variety and enjoyment of gameplay.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is a simple, playable prototype that allows you to add fish to the tank, extract them as specimens, and use basic core features.
You can also purchase a few items that help with fish growth and try out the available set of challenges.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of "Mutant Fish Lab" is planned to increase somewhat once Early Access ends.
This is to reward customers who have supported the game from its early development stages and to acknowledge that their time and effort are valuable.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will regularly share development updates, including new features and bug fixes, to keep players informed that the game is continuously being improved.
We plan to actively use the Steam Community Hub for announcements, feedback requests, Q\&A, bug reports, and other sections.
Additionally, we will operate a Discord server to provide real-time feedback channels.

About This Game

Mutant Fish Lab is a simulation game that blends genetic experimentation with auto-battling chaos.

Summon mutant fish with strange combinations of traits and abilities, toss them into the tank, and observe their behavior as they battle it out automatically. Fish that survive gain experience, level up, and mutate into even more powerful (or unpredictable) forms. Once you find an interesting mutation, you can extract and replicate it for future use.

Strength isn't always the goal. In some challenges, you'll need to design the weakest fish possible—one that dies first. In others, you'll need fish that can dash across the tank dozens of times before time runs out. These missions test not only your creativity but also your ability to engineer the perfect lifeform for a very specific task.

With countless ability combinations, procedural mutations, and strategic design choices, Mutant Fish Lab invites you to experiment, collect, and push the limits of what a fish can be.
