What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“"No army can withstand the strength of an idea whose time has come."

Area Zero fights to be itself at a time when fake and artificial are fashionable. Above all else, it seeks to be a gritty, back-to-basics fighting game, but not simply a throwback to what has already been done.

Feedback through early access will aid in the development of the 3 remaining characters and help refine the existing roster.

The software is primed for an implementation of roll back net code, keeping a strict separation between game simulation and rendering. Early access will allow for feedback as these systems are brought online.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan is for the 3 remaining characters to be fully playable and an implementation of roll back net code to allow for online matches.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Seven of the ten base roster characters are fully playable, including combo trials for each. There is an in-depth tutorial mode that explains how to play the game and use its unique systems. Competiton is limited to local versus (PvP) or player versus 'CPU'. There are four stages to choose from that correspond to events in the underlying story.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase after early access. It all depends on development costs and how much can be added to the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am a solo developer, and it is easy for me to overlook issues simply because I am intimately familiar with how the system is intended to work. I need constructive feedback to keep me in check and to expose issues.

Early adopters can provide feedback through the Contact page on the Ephemeral Technical Arts website. This feedback will aid in determining what tasks I focus on for upcoming releases.”
