What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows us to develop the game alongside our player-base, responding to user feedback with improvements and entire overhauls should the need arise.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Salvager will be in early access until it is in a stable state that we are happy with. We can't imagine this will be over a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final product wouldn't differ from this initial version too drastically. It would include QoL changes, drastic accessibility upgrades and, ultimately, the game would be a more feature-rich experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This is the first version of the game. The description on the store page details all that this game currently has to offer. This includes (but is not limited to):
- A full game loop (start, progression, respawn, end, etc.)
- All mechanics as detailed on the store page.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will gradually increase in accordance to the content within the game. At early-access release, this will be reflected as a lower price tag, and upon revision of the game this price tag would increase reflecting the quality of the game and the quantity of the game there is to play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are absolutely open to user feedback, and will take on board suggestions to enhance the user's experience - we put the gamer first!”

About This Game

Welcome to System-C399, Commander!

Salvager is a fast-paced top-down arcade shooter. You play as the pilot of the scavenger ship 'The Salvager', with no recollection of what came before, guided by an AI assistant towards one goal - planetary annihilation... Start small and fragile, carving your way through drifting asteroids and scavenging scrap from defeated enemies to repair and upgrade your vessel.

Your growth comes at a cost, however. As you expand, enemies grow more aggressive, and the very star system begins to fight back. What begins as a struggle for survival becomes a cosmic feast for power — until your ship is vast enough to consume the planets themselves.

  • Pilot your ship using a custom-built physics engine!

  • Upgrade the ship by collecting salvage!

  • Engage in combat with AI spacecraft!

  • Devour planets to complete the game!

  • An OST, set against the original track 'STARBREAKER'!

Salvager is a short game made in a custom engine, made in C, for university. As such, the playtime is currently around 20-30 minutes, and can likely be played in one sitting.

As this is an early access title, expect support and regular updates to enhance the Salvager experience!
