Bygoner is a compact, non-linear journey in a medieval setting. Dark, cynical tales, dynamic combat, and focused gameplay with no turning back. An unnamed knight travels the southern lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (modern-day Ukraine) in the early 16th century. Every step forward is final.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me, as a solo developer with limited time and resources, to build the game piece by piece. Bygoner is designed as a journey made of small narrative “tiles” — self-contained locations, events, and mechanics that come together to form a larger world. With each update, the game will expand organically, and players will be able to witness and influence that growth as it happens.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Bygoner is designed as an evolving experience. While there is no fixed deadline, the game will remain in Early Access as long as it takes to establish a solid core and build a rich foundation of content. Beyond that, I plan to continue expanding the world with new stories and features, depending on available time and support.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Bygoner is envisioned as a deeper, more expansive journey. While the Early Access version focuses on establishing the core mechanics and narrative format, future updates aim to introduce a broader variety of locations, storylines, and gameplay systems. The world will gradually take shape through these additions, offering players more choices, consequences, and atmospheric detail. My goal is to let the game grow organically, shaped by both creative intent and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Bygoner offers a playable foundation of the experience: several distinct locations, story events, and key mechanics that reflect the game’s structure and tone. It’s a functional, but deliberately limited slice of the larger journey. Players can explore, make choices, and feel the atmosphere — while knowing that much more lies ahead, waiting to be unearthed piece by piece.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The current price reflects the game's evolving nature and will remain stable throughout Early Access. A possible price adjustment may be considered once the game reaches a level of completeness that I feel represents the full experience — but only when that moment truly comes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role in shaping Bygoner. I'm open to hearing what resonates with players — what works, what feels off, and what sparks curiosity. As the game grows, I plan to share progress, listen closely, and adjust direction when it serves the experience. This journey isn’t just about adding content — it’s about refining the atmosphere, pacing, and meaning with those who choose to walk the road alongside it.”

❓ FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an open-world game? No. Bygoner is a focused journey-game featuring compact locations and forward-only movement.

Does the game feature a "living world" with many NPCs? No. The game focuses on specific events, distinct characters, and narrative novellas rather than a simulated living world.

Is this a AAA RPG (like Assassin’s Creed or Kingdom Come)? No. Bygoner is an auteur indie game focused on atmosphere, player choice, and the feeling of a journey rather than massive scale.

How long is a typical play session? The game is designed to accommodate both short sessions (10–20 minutes) and longer playthroughs.

Are there choices and consequences? Yes. Your decisions affect the course of events, the locations you visit, and the state of your journey—but don't expect a clear-cut "correct" choice.
