Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Epimythos: The Forgotten Legends is a fully playable quiz game with three distinct modes and over 500 handcrafted questions at launch. Early Access allows me to expand the question pool, improve UI polish, refine balancing, and incorporate community feedback on difficulty and mythological interpretation.

The core experience is complete, stable, and fun. Early Access just means you’re joining the journey as it grows into its final form.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I anticipate Early Access to conclude in 30-60 days, with updates and changes taking place during that time frame. My priority will be finalizing Steam Achievements and Leaderboards but expect bugs to be identified during this time. I look forward to hearing what players have to say.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to integrate Leaderboards and Steam Achievements as a priority. We are also hoping to add more Speed, Discovery, and Verbose questions, and release some rephrased verbose explanations that will replace the originals.

Other possible additions are also being considered but it's too early to say, although I have considered adding an Aesop's Fable category.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything described in the About this Game section, so check there for details. It has been through numerous polish passes, but it is not perfect.

Achievements exist, but in-game only, and there is no display, no place to see your collection of achievements. I plan to integrate with Steam to address this deficiency, as mentioned above.

There may be some "bugs" in terms of UI aesthetics, which I am working to identify and address. However, I think overall it looks good and I am proud to present the work as it stands. There comes a time when too much detail can distract from the experience, which is mythological information. Speed mode, in particular, is minimalist to a fault, and that is intentional.

Three elements in the game indicate beta status: Two are buttons related to posting / viewing Leaderboard high scores but I plan to evolve this feature, we hope to have a more mature interface by the conclusion of Early Access. So, these buttons do not work. There is also a button for clearing player preference data in the options menu that may be buggy and has not been tested with Steam Cloud syncs. That feature will almost certainly be removed when Early Access concludes. Additional content that is planned has been mentioned above. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Price may increase slightly when we leave early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While Epimythos is a content-driven game with a focused structure, community feedback is still welcome and valuable—especially when it comes to suggestions for new questions, difficulty balance, and usability improvements.

It is possible that player feedback and well-written submissions about mythological stories could be incorporated into the game's answers, making the game more of a community effort. Therefore, players are welcome and even urged to leave suggestions and feedback in any of the following ways:

Steam reviews and discussions will be used primarily to share feedback and discussions, this is where I expect to answer questions and offer some insights into my decision-making process.

You can message me @Epimythos on X (formerly Twitter) as well.

The official website at , if and when I set up a feedback form. You can also check out my devlog there.

If you identify a bug on your system, I want to work with you to fix it. You may be seeing something that does not happen on my system. In these cases, I recommend email or contacting me on Twitter.

I’m a solo developer and not running a live service model, but I am listening. Suggestions that align with the game’s structure, its educational and mythological spirit will absolutely be considered for future updates.”

About This Game

Finally, a Greek Mythology quiz game that’s both fun and meaningful.
Epimythos: The Forgotten Legends offers three distinct modes to test your knowledge, learn the stories, and dive deep into mythic symbolism — with hand-drawn illustrations, contextual backstories, and hundreds of curated questions. No ads. No in-app purchases. No gacha. Just a complete mythology quiz experience.

Why Greek Mythology?

Greek mythology lies at the root of Western civilization. Its gods, heroes, and monsters have shaped literature, language, and architecture for thousands of years.

Discovery Mode

Start here if you want to explore, learn, or refresh your memory. Each of the 370 questions (at launch) is paired with a contextual introduction and a backstory after each answer — perfect for mythology buffs and newcomers alike.

Choose up to 100 questions per round from the following categories:

  • Heroes and Legends: The greats like Heracles, Perseus, Bellerophon and more.

  • Iliad and Odyssey: The Homeric epics in quiz form.

  • Argonauts: The mysterious adventures of Jason and his epic crew, plus mighty Medea.

  • Olympians and Titans: All questions involving the Olympians and their predecessors.

  • Underworld and Afterlife: Myths involving Underworld deities and quests.

  • Heracles: The mighty son of Zeus and Alcmene, his life of struggle and redemption.

  • Mythical Bestiary: Pegasus, Chimera, Hydra, and others, from birds to giants.

  • Love, Drama, and Tragedy: Transcendent myths that touch the divine from a Dionysian angle.

  • History and Geography: Lore rooted more in real history than in myth.

  • Notable Mortals: Access stories about plain old human beings using this filter.

Mastering Discovery Mode will sharpen your skills for...

Speed Mode

The fast-paced core of Epimythosrace against the clock, earn points, and push your multiplier to the limit. The better you do, the harder the questions get.

  • Adaptive Difficulty – Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard; the game adjusts based on your streak

  • Multipliers – Chain correct answers to build score. Harder settings offer up to x10 multipliers

  • Skips – Unsure? Skip without penalty (but don’t expect mercy forever)

  • Leaderboard Ready – Challenge friends or climb the global ranks (in release version)

Verbose Mode

A deep-dive experience for players who want rich visuals and interpretive insight.
Answer typed-response questions from a pool of 130 illustrated myth scenes. Type a name or concept; if you’re close, a clean, shimmering answer button appears — click it and continue to the illustration and in-depth explanation.

Categories mirror Discovery Mode (excluding History/Notable Mortals), with a special category: Interpretations. Uncover hidden meanings and symbolic codes.
What did the Minotaur represent? Who is Heracles? What was Oedipus really about?
This is mythology as it was meant to be experienced — layered, mysterious, and profound.
