What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe that survival horror games are shaped by player experience, tension, and atmosphere — and Early Access gives us the perfect opportunity to refine all of that with you. We're launching in Early Access to gather feedback, balance difficulty, and make sure the story, scares, and gameplay feel just right. Your input will help shape the final version, and together we can make this game something truly unforgettable.
The core mechanics are in place, but with your help, we’ll polish and expand the world as we move toward the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to keep Cry of Monster in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeframe will allow us to gather community feedback, refine gameplay mechanics, and expand the story and content. However, this may change based on development progress and player input.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of Cry of Monster, our goal is to expand the 2D pixel art survival horror experience to deliver a deeper, more polished adventure while maintaining the oppressive atmosphere and emotional narrative that defines the game. We plan to complete the main storyline, extending the current chapters to resolve the mystery of the friend's disappearance. We aim to enrich gameplay with a greater variety of environmental puzzles and survival challenges, as well as enhance enemy interactions to make encounters more strategic. Additionally, we seek to optimize exploration with more detailed environments and an atmosphere reinforced by immersive sound effects and music, while preserving the pixel art style that characterizes the game. The Early Access version already offers a solid, playable experience with initial chapters, puzzles, monsters, and gory deaths, but the full version aims to refine these elements and expand the content to provide a more complete experience, based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version offers a complete, playable experience, initially including the first chapter, which features over 5 items, 1 weapon, and 5 puzzle mechanics for players to progress through the game. This beta version may include some minor bugs but is fully playable.
For more details, check the "About This Game" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access, we plan to offer Cry of Monster for free to allow players to experience the initial version of our game and share their feedback to improve the experience. Once the game exits Early Access, our goal is to set an affordable price that reflects the polished and expanded content of the full version, while maintaining accessibility for fans of the genre. We do not plan to significantly increase the price during Early Access, but any future adjustments will depend on the improvements and final scope of the game, always prioritizing fair value for players.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I deeply value the community's feedback and plan to actively involve players during Early Access to shape the game's future. We will use Steam's discussion forums to gather feedback on gameplay, puzzles, enemy difficulty, and the overall atmosphere, allowing players to suggest improvements or report issues found in the beta version.”
