Why Early Access?

“Chronicon is a large project for just one person to maintain, so I ask the Steam community to participate in the development. I hope to be able to build a great community which gets to help shape the game itself.

My goal is to collect as much feedback as possible through frequent updates with fresh content, tweaks, and other additions, so that I may create a solid and polished game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm aiming for a full release some time in 2019. However, delays are expected as the game is constantly growing in scope based on the very excellent feedback I've been getting over the forums! I don't want to set a date and rush development - it's done when it's done.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature many more items, spells, abilities, areas, worlds, enemies, bosses, crafting and other mechanics. The goal is to have five complete worlds for you to discover and explore, slaying your foes and collecting the loot as you advance further. I also intend to have a lot of replayability through scaling difficulties and increasingly difficult end-game content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Most features and mechanics are present, however there is a lot of content to be added, as the initial release (0.20.0) only featured one of the five planned worlds. Worlds will be added in major content patches over time, and smaller patches will be added frequently with various tweaks and additions.

Currently the game has 4/5 worlds (or "acts"), considerable end-game content, complete character skill trees, endless progression systems, and most of the planned mechanics.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Because of instability, bugs, and general lack of content, the price is lower while in Early Access. Expect it to increase once we hit full release. Major updates usually come with a small sale, too.”

Update 0.93.3 - Fixes and QoL improvements

Hey everyone!

This will be the last update for a while as I am making progress on 0.94.0 with some larger improvements, and I will also try to take some time off in the next couple of weeks to enjoy the summer while it lasts.

Thanks for the reports, suggestions, comments, and of course all the support!

Here's the full notes:

  • Radial Loot Opacity can now be adjusted via Interface Settings
  • Radial Loot can now be made into an automatic feature via your loot filter (it'll shift to toggle automatic use of Radial Loot on/off, rather than looting once per button press)
  • Game now un-mutes when you tab back to it (if you're using the mute & pause when tabbing out setting)
  • You can now right-click NPC's to get directly to their vendor/crafting interfaces (and skip the dialogue)
  • Added missing localization for runes (items file)
  • Fixed runes not being named correctly when generated
  • Fixed rune, spell scroll, and codex descriptions not being localized properly
  • Fixed the quest log sometimes having extremely wide line separation in the quest descriptions
  • Fixed exploit where unbinding a key would make the game think you pressed it each frame
  • Fixed menu grouping descriptions have a darkened unresponsive checkbox on the far right
  • Fixed issue where some element keywords wouldn't be colored properly and in some cases not translated when localized
  • Fixed issue where some mastery skills showed a max rank even though they don't have a max rank
  • Fixed issue where quest items may remain in inventory after completing the quest
  • Fixed issue where random anomalies could spawn "undefined" areas
  • Possible fix for map corruption in local co-op games

Update 0.93.2 - Quick fixes for the weekend

Hey everyone!

I didn't plan on releasing another fix so soon but there was a crash left in the game that I wanted done before the weekend, so here's another small update to take care of that and a few other things.

  • Fixed spell scrolls not being named correctly
  • Fixed Boots of the Snow Elf (and Flash Freeze) causing a crash
  • Fixed issue where in co-op if player 1 used keyboard and mouse, but loaded a character that had a keybindings profile set up for gamepad use, the cursor would disappear in menus and the game would incorrectly assume player 1 uses a gamepad
  • Fixed issue where item cards could go off the left side of the screen in co-op if player 1 used keyboard & mouse and had a higher inventory scale to resolution setting

What happens in a world where the last evil lies dead, the last quest is completed, and the last chest has been opened?

In this world, the long-dead Heroes of Old are forever remembered and honored through a great magical device. This device, known only as the Chronicon, is capable of opening a portal into the memories – the very souls – of the Heroes of Old. Each year, a handful men and women are given the great honor to re-live the old tales.
And this year, you have been chosen…

Note: Trailer footage and screenshots are of high level characters with decent equipment. Expect a slower pace at first.
