"Scottside" is a non-linear visual novel in the thriller genre. A small provincial town may seem quite dull. However, everything changes when you find a strange object in the forest.

About This Demo

The story takes place in an alternate 1980s, where technology is advancing faster than you can imagine. The small provincial town of Scottside, nestled among mountains and dense pine forest, may seem like a boring place. But everything changes the moment you discover a strange object in the forest. The town becomes filled with inexplicable events, and you’re drawn into an adventure where every choice you make has consequences that shape your fate.

This is a demo version of the game. Dive into the snowy town's atmosphere, meet the main characters, and explore the core mechanics. Make your first meaningful choices and feel their impact on the story. Character expressions are limited in the demo, but the full game will offer a wider and more varied range.

The demo already has QTE scenes and mini-games that will make you not just read, but act fast.

Five episodes are planned for release. They’re all interconnected, yet each one has a unique atmosphere. The first episode is currently in development.

What makes the main characters of “Scottside” unique is that they’re not just fictional — they’re reflections of real people! Their personalities, actions, and destinies weren’t written on purpose — they came to life at the table, during a game, where my friends and I created their stories on the spot.

How did it happen?

It all began with a tabletop role-playing game — something like an improvised theater, where together with friends you create a hero and invent your own story using imagination and rolling the dice. I took the role of the game master — the one who builds the world, plays the supporting characters, and guides the plot. Throughout the game, we laughed, argued, cried, and worried about the characters just as much as we did about ourselves. Step by step, through random ideas, spontaneous decisions, and genuine emotions, the characters of “Scottside” were born — vivid, unpredictable, and full of life.

  • One developer. Lots of friends

Most of the work is being done by one person, but he managed to inspire many people to join the project and each has contributed a part of themselves. Looks like the developer has made some friends… :)

  • Unique mechanics for the genre

While playing our novel, you won’t just be reading — your reactions and quick taps during mini-games and QTE-moments will affect the story!

  • Nostalgia

A retrowave soundtrack and “Stranger Things”-like vibes will evoke a sense of nostalgia — even for times you’ve never lived through. Feel like a carefree teenager again.

  • Unexpected plot twists

Your choices shape the story more than ever. There are no wrong decisions — only your own.

  • Secrets

The developer is obsessed with mysteries and riddles. Now it seems they’re scattered not only throughout the game, but maybe even beyond it… Or are they?

  • Characters

Some of them will become your true friends. Some may even steal your heart. Seriously, one guy’s in love with Jessica — he keeps sending us emails about it.
