What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will make this game the best it can be, by giving early feedback from every update during development. In other words, I plan to make Come To An End a hell of a game during and after release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will remain in Early Access for approximately 2-3 years. I don't want to rush this game out with half-baked gameplay or quality; I want to do my best to give you all a great gaming experience that you all won't regret.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Come To An End's development, I plan to add more Challenge Mode and Trials levels, more unique enemies, more abilities, more modifiers, overall, more fun features! My target goal is to add a fair amount of content before the full release, with future content after 1.0 launch.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Come To An End's Early Access version currently includes 2 story levels, 2 challenge levels, and 1 trials level. I plan to release updates monthly to bi-monthly (every other month) updates that will make the game look and/or feel better, or just overall add more content for your gameplay experience. I plan to keep everyone updated on my socials on new or changed content for Come To An End.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Once the game makes it out of Early Access, it will rise up in price. Buy now, save later. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on involving the Come To An End community during and after the development through, Discord, YouTube, and other community groups that might be formed. Don't worry this game is staying in production, no ghosting or quitting the production. I will finish this game at all costs!”

About This Game

What Is This Game?

This game is called "Come To An End", a horror labyrinth speed runner. You play as a game developer hobbyist making a retro dungeon horror labyrinth game called "The End". You designed an AI protagonist named "The Announcer". The Announcer was meant to be a boss that generates unique boss fights for each floor for the dungeons. You decided to delete the code for The Announcer and began to work on a less complex system for the boss battles. You later notice something weird going on with your code, it began to rewrite itself. In a panic, you try to exit the program but to no avail. Thinking of no other way to stop this chaos, you tried to turn off the computer. As you reached for the power button, your monitor began to glow with a bright orange vortex pulling you into the game. I'm not going to spoil the whole story for you.

How To Play?

The game is simple... Get to the end. Well, it's not that simple, you need to avoid traps, monsters, and complete level specific puzzles/challenges. For example, the Deception map is a hell-ish level with a 60 second countdown. When that countdown reaches 0, your time is limited. You will start to burn from the heat and the only way to prevent this from happening is Angelic Totems. These totems will need to be captured for 5 seconds to restore your Angelic presents back to 60 seconds. How do you avoid/stop monsters? You need to find Crystalites that are placed in the levels. These will provide you with a random ability such as, Wireframe, Speed Boost, Health, Stun Wave etc. You can choose to use these abilities at any time. If you do not like the ability, you are currently holding, you can just pick up another crystalite to replace it. Be warned, there's a creature that could randomly spawn in replacement of your ability, the Mimic. You are equipped with the latest technology in the whole game... A FLASHLIGHT! I know what you are thinking, that's not going to do jack**** to these monsters. And I say to that, you are partially right. Some monsters aren't affected by the FLASH of the light at all. Some monsters will become stunned from the default FLASH while others will need Overcharge, a flashlight ability or Stun Wave. These abilities work wonders in a pinch. Well, there are some monsters that are immune to abilities and FLASHes. You will just need to keep an eye on these enemies and avoid them at all costs. Hint: You need to flash monsters not just shine the light on them.

Content So Far

Let's talk about content. What content does the demo have currently? This demo has 3 levels, 3 game modes, 10 modifiers, and 7 Abilities. Don't worry, there are going to be way more content in the full game and updated early access version. Note: The demo will not be updated with any new updated content or features. Let's talk about the levels, shall we?!

Monsters So Far

  • Lurker

  • Stalker

  • Mimic

  • Cytaur

  • Lost Soul

  • Zombi

  • Blood Hunter

  • More monsters will be introduced later in the game's development

Demo Levels

The 3 (5) levels in the demo are, The Maze, Deception, and Ghosts Maze + The Maze and Deception Challenge Mode levels.

The Maze is the first level in the story that you will play. It's a stormy, foggy, and stone-cold environment that takes place at the top of one of the dungeon's towers. Full of saw traps, crushers, rising and lowering walls, this maze has a surprise around every corner. Something else you want to take note of the maze randomly generates a key for the exit in a different location every time you play. This maze has its protector, the Lurker. The Lurker tracks you through walls and knows where you are at all times. You will hear his growls when he is close. Try not to let him rip you to shreds.

Next up, Deception. This hell-ish domain will have you watching every corner with hell hounds and stalkers about. You are limited on time here, as you slowly burn to death. On top of the 15 minutes escape time, you will also have to manage your Angelic timer as well. This 60 second timer will begin to tick down, when this timer hits 0, you will begin to burn. You need to reset this Angelic timer by locating an Angelic Totem. You can find it from the noticeable bright golden beams in the air. Capture a totem to reset the timer, don't worry, the totems will regenerate after some time after it's been captured. The Angelic Totems aren't the only thing you have to worry about, you will have to located 3 orbs and its gates to get the key then find the exit.

Last but not least, Ghosts Maze. This level is not a part of the story levels but is own game mode called Trials. Trials is a game mode where you collect all Nanites to unlock the gate to the exit. Oh yea, you only have 3 minutes to do so.

Abilities

There are 7 abilities as of now. Theses abilities are:

  • Health - Replenishes 1 health.

  • Stun Wave - Stuns most enemies in the whole maze.

  • Speed Boost - Speeds up the player's movement and sprint speed. Additionally stop the player's stamina from depleting.

  • Overcharged - Flashlight is more powerful! You are able to stun most enemies in the maze and recharges your battery. You will consume your battery.

  • Framework - See all traps and enemies through walls.

  • Recharge - Recharges flashlight battery.

Modifiers

What are modifiers?

Modifiers are specific to the Challenge game mode. They are designed to give the player a hard time to complete the maze. Some are really though to work with while others are just a nuisance to your run. Here are the modifiers that are in game so far:

  • What Timer - Timer will not show up on the HUD.

  • No Sprint - Sprint is disabled.

  • Hardcore - Start with low health.

  • No Flashlight - Flashlight is disabled.

  • Inverted - Your movement controls are inverted.

  • Heavy-Eyed - Player blinks at random times.

  • Shackled - Player is stunned every 60 seconds for 3 seconds.

  • Fatigue - Once player stamina is depleted, you are stunned for 3 seconds, and you aren't able to sprint until your stamina fully regens.

  • Exerted - Using abilities causes you to get stunned for 2 seconds.

  • Haze - Your vision is blurred.

Future Content

Levels

At launch of 1.0, there will be 8 Story and Challenge levels and 4 Trial levels. I'm thinking about having another "game mode" which will include DLC maps for Challenge and Trials modes. The level you see below, will be in the early access and full release of the game and not the demo. The level is called Shift; it's a graveyard level that has 5 mazes in one and will need to unlock gateways to each sector.

After the launch of 1.0, my goal is to design more unique and fun levels with their own challenges, traps, and maybe some new enemies. Oh yea, there's also 3 easter eggs in The Maze, Deception, and Ghosts Maze levels.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I've used AI for voice acting and one of the creatures in game. Note: Before Release 1.0, there will be no AI characters. The AI voice will be changed if a lot of players do not like them. There is a Voice volume setting where you can turn the voices down or off.
