A Game for the Sultan is the original novella behind our game, penned by one of our writers.

Set in the same fictional empire, this tale features elements players will instantly recognize - from the notorious Sultan Card to the cruel ruler who revels in others' torment. Within these pages lies the inspiration for our gameplay mechanics and the seeds of many in-game events and storylines.

The Story

Habari, the desperate chamberlain, introduces a card game Sultan Cards suggested by the foreigner Yin Lee to entertain his bored master. As this bewitching pastime consumes the court, a haunting question arises: how long can those who suffer for the Sultan's amusement continue to endure?

How to Use the DLC

File format: PDF, additional software may be required. The PDF file will be delivered alongside the original game, which can be found in the game's folders


On Steam, you can right-click the name on Library view, choose Manage -> Browse local files to navigate to the installation path.
