your rise. When drakes set your forest aflame, you embark on a quest to reunite the herds and save your home.

Hero of Hoofbeat Hollow is an interactive novel by Amy Clare Fontaine. It’s entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

  • Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, bi, asexual, or poly.

  • Reunite the unicorn, pegasus, and kelpie herds—or drive them further apart.

  • Defeat the drakes in battle, make peace with them, or join them in burning down the

  • forest.

  • Grow gills and fins to explore underwater or soar to new heights with your wings.

  • Journey through a lush wood, stinking swamp, vast canyon, and open plain.

  • Master healing, light, wind, or water magic.

  • Customize your horn, coat, and wing colors.

  • Court a unicorn princess or a pegasus prince, enjoy a polyamorous relationship with

  • them both, or matchmake them with each other.

  • Romance or befriend a sweet, nonbinary kelpie storyteller, a battle-worn kelpie mare, or

  • a dashing drake.

  • Surrender your sanity to kelpie bloodlust or convert the kelpies to vegetarianism.

  • Rely on the magic of friendship or rule your herd with an iron hoof.

  • Encourage creativity in your herd or trample it for the sake of pragmatism.
