What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Trabacolo is a cooperative space game with deep ship-building and teamwork mechanics.
While the core gameplay loop is solid, there are major systems we still want to develop, such as new environmental mechanics, enemy types, expanded building options, and a proper solo play experience.
We want the community involved in deciding which of those matter most and how they should work.
Ship building in particular has so many possible directions that real player creativity and feedback will shape what modules, materials, and construction mechanics we prioritize.
Early Access lets us build the game together with the people who play it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for roughly one to two years, depending on how the game evolves with community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the core gameplay: flying spaceboats, building modular ships, and cooperating to collect catalysers across several maps.
We plan to significantly expand on this foundation during Early Access.
Areas we plan to develop for the full version include:

- New buildable ship modules and construction mechanics, informed by how players actually approach ship design
- Additional enemy types and combat scenarios
- New environmental mechanics and materials that interact with the building system
- More maps with distinct challenges and objectives
- An improved solo play experience
- Visual and audio polish, including better effects and feedback

The direction and priority of these additions will be shaped by what we learn from the community during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has a working core loop: you can fly spaceboats, build and control modular ships cooperatively, collect catalyst, and fight enemies across multiple maps, in solo play or online co-op.
The physics-based building and flight systems are functional and fun, but there is significant room to grow.
We have a limited set of buildable modules, a small number of enemy types, and the solo experience needs more work.
You should expect bugs, balance changes, and new content being added regularly as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add significant new content and features during Early Access.
Early supporters get the best deal. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game supports community-created maps built with the Tiled Map Editor, and we plan to make it easy for players to share and play each other's maps.
Beyond that, player feedback will directly influence our development priorities.
We plan to share our roadmap openly and let community input shape what we work on next, whether that's new ship modules, enemy types, environmental mechanics, or quality-of-life improvements.
We'll be active on our community channels and welcome feedback, bug reports, and suggestions.
If players find unexpected ways to build ships or develop strategies we hadn't considered, we want to lean into that.”

About This Game

Your planet: Air so polluted you can cut it with a knife. The solution: A new catalyst material, discovered far away in space. Your job: Find it. Catch it. Bring it home.

How Do I Do That?

Fly Your Spaceboat

You are a professional spaceboat pilot: Small ship, big ambitions. The job is to collect every catalyst on the map and deposit it safely. Your boss made it sound so simple and you believed it - until gravity pulls your salvaged catalyst into the abyss, a parasite latches onto your hull, and you notice you forgot to refuel on time as half of your ship has burnt to ashes.

Your spaceboat is highly maneuverable and generously equipped with modern self-repair functionality and on-board tools: Drill asteroids for metal, siphon fuel from floating bubbles, grab objects and tow them through space, or cut through obstacles with your saw. There is even guns, should things go seriously downhill.

Build Something Mightier

Sometimes, the bigger the better, especially when more power is needed.

Construct modular spaceships from a selection of highly functional components: landing pads, solar panels, gravitators, propulsion engines, fuel tanks, gun turrets, radar dishes, you name it. Every module serves a purpose and every ship needs fuel to keep running.

Go alone, or take your friends with you on this adventure. The game is fully playable solo, and up to 16(*) players can cooperate online.

Full freedom, you can continue to build and control everything another player started at any time. Dock your boat at a landing pad to pilot the shared spaceship. Transfer fuel between your dinghy spaceboat and the ship. Split up to scout, or stick together to push through danger. Clear communication is key to both get the job done together and not disrupt another player's plans. So, blame the players, not the game.

Each map varies in hazards, layouts, constraints and enemies, which demands sharply adapted strategies, good thinking ahead and tactics carried out with precision. The circumstances and non-negotiable physics simulation shape every decision and what truly works when building larger spaceships. Create your own maps using the Tiled Map Editor and share them with other players.

(*) Actually there is no enforced max player count, the upper limit is the power of your hardware and patience with your friends.

It Could Be So Easy, But...

Space is a world on its own, and it doesn't care about your safety so much. Gravity, space currents, hot lava and bouncy grass planets quickly leave you at the mercy of the elements. However, you can also exploit it to your own advantage. Where there is heat, there is energy to harvest, right?

Also, you are not alone. Adversary robots thrive in space, all trying to go on your nerves in their own way. Some are trigger-happy shooters, some attach and enjoy themselves by drinking all the fuel in your reserves. Others detonate or just cling to your hull for a free ride.

"Per aspera ad astra!" at its most extreme.

Why Am I Here?

Your home world is in decline. Decades of digging up everything that will burn from the crust of your planet have brought cheap transportation and warm houses for everyone plus high profits for a few, but also an air quality that gets less pleasant to breathe by the day, and even worse: It is so bad by now that it is really difficult to deny something is wrong.

But there is hope! Your knowledgeable scientists have found the solution in outer space: A new type of catalyst was discovered, which can efficiently clean all the filth out of your air (wow, this will make for some high-tier publications). Then, your elected leaders had to make some heroic compromises to carve out the funds for a space mission from the already strained annual budget.

So, now that the hard parts are done, what is left for you to do is really easy, you will just wrap it up: Go out there and collect and bring back home as much catalyst as you can carry. And, if you have some trunk space left, please also bring back some of a second type of discovered material, a zero-emission fuel. This will save the former fuel companies and all the jobs that are connected to it, you know?

Have fun! :)
