Miksi Early Access?

Shimmer's Quest will be my first big project. My starting point is the wish to bring a silly and fun adventure game to the player to immerse themselves in. To achieve this I can't stay in my bubble for too long. My brain is a wild space orienting itself on weird vibes, connections and ideas. To form a bridge to the game's design I will need feedback on the narrative, subplots, art and puzzles. I need to make sure the game is understandable and fun to play.

Early access will also help me find bugs effectively and address these before going into full release.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

I aim to hopefully have it finished for full release sometime in 2026.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

I plan to have the art polished and improved.
I hope to create two endings for the main plot line and additional content such as the garden's flowers.
There may be an extra unlock-able area based on a collection system.
My plan is also to implement more lore and more possibilities for the players to get to know the other characters in the game.
Sound effects will hopefully be finished, of course prioritising a Whoop button.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

Main plot line is fully playable
A large portion of the art consists of placeholders
Main backgrounds are mostly finished
Main sound scapes are mostly finished
Several animations are missing
Visual effects such as lighting and particles still need to be finished
Parts of the writing still need to be done concerning subplots and lore
A lot of details need to get done I will group as polishing to avoid typing my to-do list.

The price will be raised after I leave early access.

Miten yhteisö otetaan mukaan kehitysprosessiin?

I have set up a Discord server to keep track of bugs but also to keep notice if something jumps out for players, either fun things or if they don't like something. For example play testing with friends showed me everyone wishes (demands) to pet the battle steed. I will make sure this interaction gets included in the final release.
