What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game thrives on creativity and experimentation, so we want the community to directly influence the content we add next — new biomes, items, NPCs, or unexpected twists!
We're also building a game that aims to bring together experienced deckbuilder players and those who simply enjoy a relaxed hike in the mountains. Early Access gives us the opportunity to balance both sides and ensure that each run feels rewarding no matter your playstyle.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current plan is to remain in Early Access for 8 to 12 months.
The timeline may shift depending on feedback and the scope of improvements requested.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our current roadmap includes new biomes, additional enemy types, more items and new bags, and new NPCs that enrich both the adventure and the village experience.
We also aim to refine the narrative layer, and add QoL improvements that make each run smoother and more satisfying.
As the community shares ideas and feedback, we expect to integrate a variety of player-inspired content as well, whether that means fresh items, new challenges, or entirely new regions to explore.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build contains the complete core gameplay loop:
exploration, backpack management, challenges, lots of items, and village interactions.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to offer the Early Access version at a lower price to thank early supporters. The price will increase as new content and systems are added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is essential to shaping Barda. We’ll gather input through:
- Discussions and suggestions on the Steam forums and Discord
- Regular devlogs outlining current work and upcoming updates
- Surveys to help prioritize balancing and content additions

Players who join Early Access help steer the direction of the game, and many decisions will be directly influenced by community input.”

About This Game

Barda mixes elements from deckbuilder roguelikes and backpack management games.

Simply drag and drop the best object you have on a challenge to complete it and move on to the next zone. If you don't have anything suitable, you can always use your own two hands and a dash of courage!

In Barda, your goal is to climb as high as possible up an unforgiving, randomised mountain. You will need to use and sort through dozens of items that you loot from many different biomes and zones.

In our innovative inventory system, every problem directly affects your backpack. Hunger, fatigue, madness. These are just some of the things that can happen during a run. How can you keep your bag tidy in those conditions?

Complete missions to unlock options in the Explorer's Tree and keep trying to reach the summit of the Mountain until you manage to scatter your deceased grandfather's ashes there.
