What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Releasing LOST ALTR in Early Access gives us the chance to test and refine core gameplay systems, experiment with mechanics, and gather real feedback from players who care about the experience as much as we do. We want to know what works, what doesn’t, and what kinds of features you’d love to see next.

Throughout Early Access, we’ll be updating regularly based on your input—balancing systems, introducing new content, and shaping the world together. Whether it’s combat tweaks, room layouts, card abilities, or entirely new gameplay modes, your feedback will directly influence development.

If you’re excited about being part of a growing game and helping shape its future from the ground up, we’d love to have you on this journey.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to stay in Early Access for 1 to 2 years, depending on community engagement and development momentum. The core foundation of the game is already solid—we’ve built the systems, mechanics, and structure to support a full experience. Now, we’re looking to bring in the community to help shape where it goes from here. Your feedback will directly influence future content, features, balance, and more.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand on the foundations built in Early Access. While the core gameplay will remain true to what we’ve established, we look forward to exploring new game modes, additional content, and refinements shaped directly by community feedback.

Our goal is to evolve the game with our community, not just alongside it. We hope the full version will reflect what resonated most, what needed tuning, and what unexpected directions come from community collaboration.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version is fully playable with the core mechanics in place: Dungeon crawling through room trials, collecting powerful aspect cards and equipping them for future trial runs improving your progress.

While it’s still Early Access, the game should be mostly bug-free, and we’ve spent time ensuring it runs smoothly. What’s here represents the foundation we’re proud of, and now we’re looking to expand on that through your feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our plan is to keep the price the same throughout Early Access and into full release. However, if the game grows significantly in scope—through expanded content, new modes, or major features—we may adjust the price to reflect the added value at full launch.

That said, anyone who joins us during Early Access will get the full game and all its future updates without paying more later. It’s our way of saying thanks for supporting us early and helping shape the experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is at the core of our Early Access approach. We want to work with players to shape the game’s future—everything from fine-tuning mechanics to designing new features and game modes.

We’ll be gathering feedback through Steam discussions, Discord, social media, and in-game surveys, giving players multiple ways to share their thoughts. Whether it’s a balance issue, a content idea, or just something that feels off, we want to hear it.

As development progresses, we plan on posting regular updates, dev logs, and roadmaps, so you know what’s coming and how your feedback is helping shape the direction. We may even run playtests or polls to let the community help prioritize features or explore new content ideas.”

About This Game

LOST ALTR is a solo rogue-lite card game set within the crumbling halls of a forgotten temple. You’ll face a series of Trials—mysterious encounters drawn from an ever-shifting deck. Each completed Trial leads you deeper into the Ruins of ALTR. Use Aspect cards to shape your fate—mysterious forces that grant you powerful advantages, but always at a cost.

Built on the foundation of the Scoundrel card mechanics by Zach Gage and Kurt Biegand, a heavily reimagined experience, LOST ALTR blends strategy, luck, and lore in a dark, esoteric world. The path forward is never the same. The further you go, the more the ruins remember.

Early Access will evolve with new cards, mechanics, and layers of mystery—shaped by feedback from those brave enough to enter the ALTR.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

LOST ALTR contains themes and imagery that may not be suitable for all players. This includes dark esoteric symbolism, references to ritual practices, bloodletting, and self-sacrifice. Player discretion is advised.
