Why Early Access?

“Last Squad is designed around 4-player co-op at its core. We believe that hero balance, the perk and artifact progression meta, and wave difficulty pacing can only be properly refined with real gameplay data and feedback from actual players. During Early Access, we want to tune the balance together with our community and let players help us decide the priorities for new content — heroes, stages, and game modes.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last approximately 2–3 months. However, this may change depending on content readiness and how much community feedback we incorporate along the way. Our priority is shipping a polished full release rather than hitting a specific date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release, we plan to add and expand on the following:
- New heroes, each with their own unique skills, ultimates, and trait perks
- New sectors (chapters), stages, and new threats to face
- An expanded pool of artifacts and perks for deeper build variety
- More variables in Challenge Mode (random map and debuff combinations)
- Richer worldbuilding and story presentation
- Overall balance, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements

These represent our development direction — priorities and details may shift based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay loop is fully playable from start to finish:
- Online co-op for up to 4 players (Steam matchmaking / friend invites)
- 6 heroes with distinct playstyles — unique skills, ultimates, and trait perks
- Scenario stage progression plus a Challenge Mode combining random maps and debuffs
- In-run progression through artifact and perk combinations
- Lobby features including the weapon shop, hero customization, and progression management
- A tutorial, detailed graphics options (presets + individual settings), and accessibility features such as effect transparency
- Support for 10 languages

Balance tuning and content additions will continue throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to change the price when we leave Early Access. Players who join us during Early Access and those who purchase after the full release will enjoy the game at the same price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to communicate with players through the Steam Community Hub and our official Discord. Specifically:
- Regular patch notes and development roadmap updates
- Collecting feedback on balance and difficulty, and reflecting it in updates
- Polls and surveys on priorities for new heroes and content
- A dedicated bug report channel with prompt hotfixes

Our goal is to make it transparent how player voices turn into actual updates.”

About This Game

The world’s largest bio-mechanics corporation, Virix, dreamed of creating “better humans” through a global human-modification initiative known as the Utopia Project.

But the final experiment produced not hope, but disaster: the unknown substance called the Virix Particle.

Those exposed to what scientists once called a “new beginning” were transformed into bloodthirsty monsters, and civilization collapsed overnight.

Cities became both graveyards and hunting grounds. Yet a rare few resisted the infection.

Through a mysterious reverse immune mutation — the Hyrix Response, some humans awakened transcendent abilities, but even such powers weren’t enough to turn the tide alone, and so, they formed a team. Their name: The Last Squad.

The Last Squad is sent to the most critical areas to cleanse the Virix threat for the sake of humanity.
