What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While I have made other games in the past, this is my first racing game, and it is also special in what it represents. (It attempts to bring the "90s feeling" to current time, while also staying true to its 90s origin.)

I therefore decided to put the game into Early Access to bring the game as close as possible for me to what players expect from this specific type of retro game and how it feels.

Feedback is also planned to be incorporated in the design of future content of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At least 6 months, due to the amount of content I want to add to the game.

The minimum amount of tracks I plan to have in the game before it leaves Early Access is 40, and I gladly will add even more to it than that, if there are features that make additional content worthwhile.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I am planning for the full game to have much more content and implement the quality of life options/tools requested by players during Early Access.

There are also more features planned for its content than it had when it entered Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently is fully playable, and is not just a "concept".

It currently doesnt have all the content planned for when it leaves Early Access yet, and not the full choice of vehicles. (When the game enters Early Access, it will have 15 unique tracks already, not counting alternative versions of those tracks)

The tracks etc. are created with keyboard as input method, therefore a gamepad is not required to play, but xbox Gamepad (or any input device UE5 recognizes) works to control the vehicles and can be used for keybinding too.

The menu (for now) needs a Mouse to click buttons, but I want to resolve this before the game leaves Early Access.

The game is built on a foundation I made for my other games, therefore runs on "known to be working" logic.

Of course, there are some minor missing things, or placeholders (e.g. I have not yet found a good sound for something specific, or not made one yet.).

It is also inevitable that players will find a few bugs I am not yet aware of, despite having played the game for dozens of hours already, and done a lot of testing at low and high framerates etc.

Everything in the game is modular, including tracks and vehicles, therefore everything can be adjusted to feedback easily.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, but it will be a fair price given the amount of content in the game.

There currently is no plan to change price during Early Access, and any price change coinciding with release will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Just drop your thoughts in the forum, use the communityhub for screenshots and videos, and I will see what can be done to implement that feedback or find a compromise between opposing needs of different players.

Discuss with others, share thoughts, thats the best way for players to have an impact on the game.”

About This Game

Straight from the '90s, 90FX brings back the thrill and raw energy of early revolutionary racing games.

Staying true to its retro roots, the game features tight, precise steering and fast-paced action, enhanced with modern mechanics and fresh ideas inspired by newer titles.

With up to 40 vehicles battling for position—and optionally armed with weapons—there’s never a dull moment. Even when you're in the lead, danger is always just ahead: mines, and chaos from those behind keep every race unpredictable.

From wild first-lap pileups to explosive shootouts—or even the occasional laid-back cruise, 90FX offers something for every kind of racer.

A surprisingly competent and adaptive AI (still being fine-tuned during Early Access) will gladly leave you in the dust if you make a mistake, or take you out with a missile when you least expect it.

There’s no rubberbanding here. Every crash, every overtaking move, every destroyed opponent truly matters. Success is all about skill and strategy.

And whether you’re racing with a keyboard or gamepad, the controls are built to feel natural and responsive on both—every track, every turn, every shortcut is designed with both inputs in mind.

Weapons follow the same design philosophy: intuitive and satisfying to use, with no friction between you and the fun of blowing up your rivals.

Visually, 90FX embraces a stylized, abstract aesthetic—colorful, shiny, and instantly readable, capturing not what the '90s actually looked like, but what they felt like.

The game is designed to keep you fully in the moment, with clear and distinct visual cues for everything that matters on the track, all without sacrificing performance.

So, what are you waiting for? Jump into 90FX and experience the '90s all over again—louder, faster, and more explosive than ever.
