« Don't Turn Back is a game that requires a lot of detail and fine-tuning to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy what we have to offer. At the current moment, we have the main parts of the game complete and functional, but we plan on allowing for controller support, optimizations for weaker hardware, and Steam Deck/Linux support. We will use your feedback and opinions on social media or our support email to create these changes and features to make it as enjoyable as possible. »

« We plan to ship the final version of Don't Turn Back by Holiday 2025. This allows us to get all the content we have planned into the game, tested and finally launched to all of You! »

« The full version of Don't Turn Back is planned to have more content, more support, more improvements to the graphics, improved performance and more! »

« Currently Don't Turn Back has all the main story points, and players have full access to the game's story. The level design is mostly complete, and there are a few jump scares and basic puzzles that will be tweaked and optimized over time.

There is an antagonist that players can encounter, but combat mechanics are subject to change.

This game is a passion project and a work in progress. We are open to community and player feedback! »

« At Scrnshot Interactive, we aren't fans of charging additional fees for features and content that should be in the main game. With that in mind, the Early Access Version of Don't Turn Back will be cheaper than the full game. Once the full game is completed and launched, we will raise the price to our intended retail price. »

Don't Turn Back is a short single-player, story-driven psychological horror experience. You play as Bethany, A young woman who has just inherited her grandfather's mansion. While moving into the mansion, you begin to experience strange occurrences and events that lead you deeper and deeper into the mansion.

Environment

The mansion of Don't Turn Back is designed to be played in one continuous sitting. Portions of the mansion contain open spaces with lots of light as well as dark claustrophobic spaces. It is important to pay attention to the environment, as we utilize sound and subtle changes to progress the story.

Storyline

When Bethany returns to her childhood home, she starts to realize something is off. Different. Someone or something in the manor is hunting her. Lurking in the shadows. Uncover the past and escape the terror in this short, first-person interactive horror story.

Gameplay

While playing Don't Turn Back, you will need to withstand the jumpscares and sounds that have been designed and created to create an intense and immersive experience. You won't have any weapons to protect yourself, and you won't have any way to avoid events. You are armed with only a flashlight and your own bravery.
