About This Game

Aker Fern 2 – a visual novel unlike any you've experienced before!

Continuing the story of mystery, destiny and the impact of the past on the present

In the 16th century, in a world filled with superstition and mystery, there lived a man named Mikołaj Fern. He was no ordinary traveler but someone who sought to discover truths that could change his fate. Traversing the lands of the Republic, he tracked supernatural phenomena and eliminated them not out of concern for humanity but out of a desire to escape his inevitable fate. His life ended with a public execution, but the story he began was not finished.

New story, new hero, same fate

After more than five hundred years, Dan Tern was born, an ordinary boy leading a quiet life until memories of a previous incarnation shatter his reality. Mikołaj Fern has returned, but this time in a different body and era. The mystery he carries enters the modern world, entailing events that will not only change his fate but also uncover the truth about the Shatris Core—an enigmatic element that influences human destiny.

A new approach to narrative – changing perspectives

Aker Fern 2 is a sequel to the visual novel released in 2020, distinguished by its innovative narrative form. This time, the story will not be told from only one perspective. The game introduces a system of changing characters, allowing the events of the previous part to take on new meaning and new plots to weave into a unified, immersive story.

  • Multifaceted story – events are presented through the perspectives of different characters, allowing a deep understanding of their motivations and emotions.

  • Coherent, linear narrative – although the game contains smaller choices, its main asset is a strongly developed storyline without unnecessary bifurcations, allowing you to focus on its quality.

  • Character development – Dan Tern, like other characters, will evolve over the course of the game, affecting how you experience the story.

Climate and style – a combination of humor and mystery

The game's style is inspired by anime aesthetics, featuring clear outlines and a relatively simple yet thoughtful color palette. However, Aker Fern 2 is not just about beautiful illustrations; it is primarily a story that combines elements of mystery, drama, and comedy. The narrative surprises with emotional moments and unexpected humorous twists.

  • Secrets of the past – discover the secrets Fern has been hiding and learn the consequences of his past decisions.

  • Exaggerated humor – light and comedic moments contrast with more serious themes, creating a unique dynamic.

  • Action elements – dynamic scenes that can be compared to the shounen's showy parts.

What can you expect in the full version?

The game's demo offers only a snippet of the story; the full version contains ten times more content! You can expect:

  • More locations and illustrations – each scene has been designed with attention to detail to immerse the player in the right mood..

  • An extensive soundtrack – atmospheric music that provides depth.

  • In-depth storyline – new chapters, new mysteries, and new emotions!

  • Refreshed graphics – elements known from the demo have been improved and enhanced.

Who is this game for?

If you appreciate a deep, engaging narrative and are interested in stories of mystery and time travel, then Aker Fern 2 is for you. The game will especially appeal to those who love visual novels with an intriguing plot but do not shy away from humor and dynamic scenes.

Why is Aker Fern 2 worth playing?

Unique combination of genres

Aker Fern 2 is primarily a visual novel that combines elements of thriller, drama, fantasy, and subtle humor. The game offers a story where the mysteries of the past intertwine with the characters' personal choices. Instead of imposing a pace, it allows the player to discover its details independently. It's a story-driven journey that explores the impact of decisions, destiny, and self-understanding—without unnecessary embellishments or exaggerated drama.

A deeper understanding of the plot

Although the game doesn't offer many plot bifurcations, the player, in the role of an observer, has the opportunity for a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations. This is not a classic interactive story where choices change the course of events; instead, the player discovers different layers of the same story, analyzing the fate of the characters from various perspectives. This approach allows for a deeper immersion into the presented world and an understanding of what truly drives the characters.

Heroes – who are they, and how do they affect the story?

Dan Tern / Mikołaj Fern – two personalities, one destiny

The main character of the game is Dan Tern, an ordinary young man leading a quiet life until his consciousness becomes permeated by memories of his previous incarnation. Mikołaj Fern comes back to life, and his memory begins to dominate Dan's mind. They are both the same person, but their life paths intertwine to form one cohesive character.

Together, they form a full-bodied character: on one hand, a determined young man, and on the other, someone who has experienced too much to be naive.

Other characters

Ajris

We meet Ajris at a time when her life had completely fallen apart, and she was contemplating suicide. As she plunged further into the lake, she heard the laughter of an older man—Mikołaj Fern. His behavior irritated her greatly, but his words made her decide to abandon her intention and eventually follow him.

Since then, Ajris has accompanied Mikołaj Fern on his travels. Over time, she began to appreciate him as a man who changed her life. She recognized that if she had to sacrifice herself to save him, she would do so without hesitation. However, at one point in the story, she finds Mikołaj Fern hanging from a noose.

When Mikołaj Fern's soul is burdened with a curse, forcing him to kill his own family, Ajris confronts his chained soul and is mortally wounded. However, she discovers a way to free him. Her soul is separated from her body, and the curse is sealed inside. Mikołaj's soul finds peace and passes away, while Ajris's soul remains trapped in the human world for 500 years—until Mikołaj's consciousness awakens in Dan Terna. From then on, Ajris, as a spirit, constantly accompanies him.

Sana Gabler

Sana was created from a combination of the curse incumbent on Mikołaj Fern and Ajris' body. The body was supposed to remain sealed for eternity, but Dan Tern opens the sarcophagus, hoping to restore Ajris to her body. However, he discovers that over 500 years, the curse has developed a consciousness. He decides to name her Sana and observe her behavior among humans to determine if she poses a threat.

Blanka Surma

Blanka is Dan's close friend and one of the most decisive characters in the game. She was by his side when the memory of Mikołaj Fern awoke in him. She is a meticulous person and a model student, but she also has an impulsive nature and is excellent at fighting, which has earned her the nickname "Amazon" in the past.

Weronika Furman

Weronika epitomizes laziness—whiny, insufferable, and reliant on convenience, preferring others to do the work for her. Despite this, she is the president of the student government. What no one knows is that there is a secret related to the creation of the school where Dan ended up. She is a shadowy figure and plays a key role in the story.

Tatiana Mika

Tatiana is a girl with "reporter's ADHD"—she's always seeking sensationalism and isn't afraid to step in where she shouldn't. In the past, she encountered the Last Devil and survived the confrontation thanks to Dan Tern's help. This experience left a mark on her character and motivations, which we discover throughout the game.

Erika Flis

Erika is the daughter of a school principal, and her life is marked by rebellion against her father and the rules imposed on her. She is energetic and spirited, often leading to absurd situations. Although Erika seems to be Tatiana's opposite, their fates intertwine in surprising ways.

Ariel Biernat

Ariel is a character shrouded in mystery. He accompanies Erika and Feliks on their comedic, yet often twisted, adventures. His motives remain unclear, and behind the facade of intelligence and precise actions lies a mystery yet to be uncovered.

Karen Lasota

Karen is one of the most enigmatic characters in the world of Aker Fern. She is quiet and aloof, giving the impression of someone who does not understand the reality around her. Her presence arouses anxiety and curiosity; she is an enigma that intrigues both the characters and the players.

Game mechanics – what sets Aker Fern 2 apart?

  • Flashback system – events from the past are interwoven with the present, giving the player a fuller picture of the plot.

  • Narration based on emotions – the characters react to situations in a dynamic way, which makes the story more realistic.

  • Stylized graphics and animation – anime aesthetics combined with refined lines make every scene resemble a frame from a high-quality animated series..

Why should you play?

Aker Fern 2 is the full version of a game born from a passion for storytelling. It expands on the plots from the earlier demo, enriching them with new perspectives, characters, and mysteries. This visual novel not only narrates the fate of its characters but also allows players to reflect on their own choices and their consequences.

Our goal was to create a game that combines an immersive storyline with an unconventional atmosphere—something we would want to experience as players ourselves. We put our hearts into every detail, from the dialogues to the music, to ensure that the story of the Aker Fern world captivates you completely.

The game is completely free, just like our previous projects. We aim to promote Polish visual novels and want everyone to access our work without financial barriers. If you've played the demo, you know that Aker Fern is more than a simple game—it's a story awaiting your interpretation and decisions.

We encourage you to discover the whole story and learn the truth about the Shatris Core. We hope you find something here that inspires, intrigues, or simply allows you to have a nice time.
