About This Content

*Purchase of the “Basic Pack” and “DLC for the applicable route” is required in advance to play each train of the Series 185 DLC.
If you do not have the DLC for the applicable route, you can only operate the Tokaido Line Local Train (521M) and Limited Express Odoriko No. 3 (3023M) from Tokyo to Shinagawa in the Basic Pack.

■Vehicle Introduction
The Series 185 DC limited express train was designed and manufactured in 1981 by the then Japan National Railways (JNR). Unlike conventional limited express trains, it was designed for commuter use, with two passenger doors per car and wider doors than existing limited express trains.
It was first used for the express train “Izu” in March 1981 and the express train “Odoriko” in October of the same year, and was assigned to many express trains such as the express trains “Kusatsu” and “Tanigawa” to Gunma, and the express train “Nasuno” to Tochigi. Taking advantage of the versatility of the carriages, they were also used in various types of trains, such as regular trains, the temporary rapid “Moonlight Naru” and the “Spur” skiing train. Currently, the train is no longer in operation as a regular train, but can be seen as a temporary train.
We hope you will enjoy the trains of yesteryear in this DLC.

■Introduction of trains
[Tokaido Line]
The Limited Express “Odoriko”
The Limited Express “Odoriko” is a limited express train that was introduced in October 1981 as a full-fledged operation of the Series 185. It mainly connects Tokyo and Izukyu-Shimoda/Shuzenji, and is convenient for sightseeing in the Izu Peninsula. Currently, Series E257 and E261 (“Saphir Odoriko”) trains are in operation.
*The Series 185 DLC can operate from Tokyo Station to Atami Station (separate “Tokaido Line” DLC is required for operation).
Those who do not have the “Tokaido Line” DLC can also operate from Tokyo Station to Shinagawa Station if they have the basic pack.

Local Train(521M)
This is a regular train between Tokyo Station and Ito Station. Due to train operation reasons, Series 185 trains were used instead of commuter-type trains. This train was especially popular among railroad fans and “Seishun 18 Ticket” users, as it allowed them to board an express-type train even though it was a regular train.
The March 2013 timetable revision marked the end of the Series 185's operation, as it was replaced by other trains.
*The Series 185 DLC can operate from Tokyo Station to Atami Station (separate “Tokaido Line” DLC is required for operation).
If you do not have the “Tokaido Line” DLC, you can also operate the train from Tokyo Station to Shinagawa Station if you have the basic pack.

[Tokaido Freight Line]
Shonan Liner” and ”Ohayō Liner Shinjuku
The “Shonan Liner” and “Ohayō Liner Shinjuku” were popular mainly among commuters as trains that allowed them to be seated during commuting hours. 185 Series, 215 Series, 251 Series, and various other types of trains were used to connect the Tokyo area and the Shonan area. They were also popular among railroad fans because they ran on the Tokaido Freight Line, where commercial trains did not usually run.
With the March 2021 timetable revision, the Series 185s were upgraded to the limited express “Shonan” service, and their operation and the nicknames “Shonan Liner” and “Ohayō Liner Shinjuku” came to an end.
*The Series 185 DLC can operate from Odawara Station to Shinagawa and Shinjuku Stations (a separate “Tokaido Freight Line” DLC is required for operation).

[Takasaki Line]
The Limited Express "Kusatsu” and ”Minakami"
The “Kusatsu” and “Minakami” trains are limited express trains that connect the Tokyo metropolitan area with the hot spring resorts of Gunma Prefecture. The Limited Express “Kusatsu” trains terminated at Manza-Kazawaguchi Stations on the Agatsuma Line, and the Limited Express “Minakami” trains terminated at Minakami Station on the Joetsu Line, splitting and merging at Shin-Maebashi Station on the way.
The Limited Express “Kusatsu” train changed its nickname to the Limited Express “Kusatsu-Shima” train, and is still operated by the E257 Series between Ueno Station and Naganoharakusatsuguchi Station. The Limited Express “Minakami”. now mainly uses E653 Series trains to transport tourists to the Minakami area as an extra train.
*The Series 185 DLC can operate from Ueno Station to Takasaki Station (a separate “Takasaki Line” DLC is required for operation).

[Utsunomiya Line]
The Limited Express “Ohayō Tochigi”
The Limited Express “Ohayō Tochigi” was established in 1995 as a train connecting the Tokyo metropolitan area and Tochigi Prefecture by renaming the “New Limited Express Nasuno” (at the time of its birth, it was nicknamed the “New Limited Express Ohayō Tochigi”). It had been connecting Kuroiso Station and Utsunomiya Station on the Tohoku Main Line with Shinjuku Station for a long time, but with the increase of Shonan Shinjuku Line trains, the train departing from Utsunomiya Station was discontinued in March 2008, and the train departing from Kuroiso was also discontinued in December 2010, ending the operation of the “Ohayō Tochigi” train.
*The Series 185 DLC can operate from Kuroiso Station and Utsunomiya Station to Omiya Station (separate “Utsunomiya Line” DLC is required for operation).
