About This Demo

Collect cards, build decks, and battle fierce opponents in Top Check, a roguelike deckbuilder and card game inspired by the classic game of chess. This demo features the first stage of the game's Roguelike Run game mode, where you will have to use your deckbuilding prowess to defeat challenges of increasing difficulty. In the process you'll encounter many unique pieces and abilities, and only the best strategists will emerge victorious. Do you have what it takes to reach the top?

Top Check distinguishes itself from other chess-inspired roguelikes in the following ways:

• The game takes deckbuilding literally.  Pieces have card forms and you build a deck using those cards.

• You're not just playing with pieces; use action cards to devise creative synergies.

• Make a mistake?  Use the undo ability to turn back time and recover gracefully.

• There's always a chance!  Start each stage at full power and choose a new randomized modifier.

• The King is in the house; checkmate your opponent to claim victory!

• Or enable Conquest Mode to win by capturing all your opponent's other pieces.

Will you devise a strategy around copying important pieces?  Or perhaps dominate the board using synergy between pieces of the same type.  Whatever you choose, the possibilities are sure to captivate your inner strategist.
