Sonak is a third person fantasy Action RPG, where you build a character with rogue-like choices. Instead of complicated skill trees and hours of planning, live in the moment and evolve your character and abilities with every level. 

Embark on your journey by mastering one of the six elements: ignite the battlefield with searing Fire to incinerate your foes, unleash virulent Poison to see enemies wither over time, or wield chilling Frost to freeze and shatter anything in your path. This defining choice shapes your playstyle and unlocks unique relics tailored to your element.

Next, select your primary ability: impale adversaries with a razor-sharp elemental spear, summon a slow moving storm of projectiles, or conjure a tornado around you while slashing and spinning your melee weapon. With ten distinct primary abilities, you’ll unlock limitless replayability and endless playstyle combinations.

Finally, choose your secondary ability—offense, defense, or utility. Raise an elemental barrier to absorb incoming blows, charge forward to push enemies aside, or bend time itself to slow everything around you as you unleash relentless attacks. Every decision forges a distinct path through this ever-evolving fantasy world.

Every time you level up, you’ll unlock fresh opportunities and meaningful choices. Instead of a traditional skill tree, you pick one of three permanent upgrades. Your character and primary ability level separately, and character-level choices grant modifiers similar to those found on weapons or equipment.

However, when your ability levels up it becomes a build-defining moment. Each upgrade permanently alters how that ability works—your slashes can explode on each enemy hit, projectiles can orbit around you, or your storm can remain stationary for maximum uptime. You’ll also unlock modifiers that affect triggered abilities. Best of all, monsters use this same progression system—so if an enemies ability impresses you, you can replicate it in your next run.

As you explore, monsters will drop gear and weapons that shape your build—whether it’s a slow, hard-hitting two-hander or a staff to boost your spells. Each item comes with random modifiers (added spell damage, additional health, increased critical strike chance) that define how effective your character is in combat.

Beyond simply collecting gear, Sonak offers deep customization through crafting. You can reroll an item’s modifiers to seek better stats, add entirely new modifiers, or even double the value of an existing modifier. But the real depth comes with the Forge: where you can melt down items to extract one random modifier, which is stored for later use in the Anvil. There, you can browse your collected modifiers and strategically add them to your equipment. Keep in mind that once you apply a modifier from the Anvil, it disappears from your reserve—so choose carefully.

While adventures in Sonak overflow with monsters and loot, they also hide a rare purple portal leading to a bonus challenge zone brimming with extra rewards. Step through, and you’ll face one of many trials:

• Endless Swarm
  An ever-escalating horde of monsters tests your speed and efficiency. The faster you slay enemies, the tougher they become—and the better the loot you earn.

• The Gauntlet
  Battle through ten increasingly difficult waves of foes, with the option to cash out after each round. Push on to claim the ultimate prize, or retreat early to bank your current haul—the choice is yours!

• Behemoth
  Tackle a mini-boss you design by choosing its modifiers. The more enhancements you enable, the deadlier it becomes—and the richer the reward for defeating it. But beware: a fully decked-out mini-boss surpasses any challenge you’ll face in a standard adventure.

At the end of each adventure, you’ll face a powerful boss whose fight evolves as you battle. Chasing storms, expanding elemental pools, summoned adds, exploding floor tiles, and many more combine in unique ways so no two encounters are ever the same.

Defeating these bosses is the only way to escape with your rare or better loot! If you perish before the victory, these items you carry will be lost.

Beyond these adventure-specific bosses, Sonak also features static pinnacle encounters unlocked when you hit certain levels or complete key objectives. These ultimate battles test your true strength and reward you with Historic items—gear that has fixed modifiers and unique properties. Historic items can transform your current build and open entirely new playstyles for future characters. Will you conquer them all?
