Why Early Access?

“The Music at the End of the World is a visual novel with a rich narrative and survival elements. Early access was chosen to gradually release the chapter-based story in scheduled intervals, allowing players to experience and engage with the game as it evolves. This approach not only helps refine gameplay mechanics and improve overall balance based on player feedback but also provides an opportunity to expand the game's audience organically over time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The full version is expected to be released in June 2025. However, the duration of the early access period may be adjusted based on player feedback and development progress. Regular updates will be provided to ensure transparency and keep the community informed about the game's progress.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During early access, the main story will be released in chapters, allowing players to experience the narrative as it unfolds. The full version will include the complete main story along with three standalone side stories that expand the world and provide additional perspectives. In addition to content expansion, the final release may also feature refinements to gameplay mechanics, improved visuals, and quality-of-life adjustments based on community feedback. While the overall structure is planned, development will remain flexible to accommodate necessary improvements and player-driven enhancements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The main story is planned to consist of nine chapters, with the first four chapters already completed and fully playable. These chapters provide a solid introduction to the game's world, mechanics, and core narrative themes. While the foundation is in place, additional refinements, balancing, and polish will be applied throughout early access based on player feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be completely free for the first week of its early access launch. After this initial period, it will be available for purchase at a lower price than the planned full release price. As development progresses and additional content is introduced, the price may be adjusted to reflect the improvements and new features. However, players who purchase the game during early access will retain full access to all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Throughout the early access period, player feedback will be an essential part of refining the game. Community input will be particularly valuable in balancing difficulty, adjusting survival mechanics, and evaluating the impact of choice-driven storytelling. Players will be encouraged to share their thoughts through Steam discussions, feedback forms, and other platforms, and every effort will be made to incorporate their suggestions where feasible. Regular updates will also provide transparency on which improvements are being implemented based on community input.”

In this choice-driven game, you will determine the fate of the character telling the story and how it all ends. In a world on the brink of destruction, where loneliness has become a form of madness, decide what the Narrator will do under conditions no sane person could endure.

You can keep your body warm, but can you protect your mind from the cold?

Experience the winter that brought the apocalypse and the solitude of an abandoned world. The journey of the Narrator, seemingly impossible yet somehow real, is in your hands. Shape the course of the story with your choices. While doing so, try to preserve both the Narrator’s sanity and your own.

The Narrator’s vital stats may limit your choices or open new paths. Can he fight if he’s not brave enough? Can he stay sane if he’s too hungry? Can he even survive if he hasn’t lost his mind just enough?
