為何採用搶先體驗模式?

「Although the game is both playable and enjoyable at the moment, I am yet to add some of the features I had originally hoped to, namely boss fights.

Instead of waiting for everything to be 100% completed, I'm giving the community the opportunity to give feedback on what's fun and what their top priorities are.」

「I plan to add more content focused on replayability. This will include at least one boss fight, and hopefully new reactions, a rework of the upgrades, and potentially new enemies.」

「The core game loop is mostly in place; the content is still in progress. There are currently 4 floors with a total of 16 unique enemies, as well as plenty of reactions to experiment with. This provides plenty of gameplay, but may get repetitive after a few hours.」

「Yes, I plan to make the game slightly more expensive upon full release to reflect the additional content.」

OVERVIEW 🔎

Chemical Combat is an action-packed, chemistry-themed roguelike in which choosing the right combination of chemicals is crucial. Armed with a diverse array of elements, you'll need to concoct potions to trigger a variety of deadly reactions in order to protect yourself from the numerous mythical monsters on the loose.

Set following a containment breach in a highly dangerous research facility, you'll battle your way through a maze of interconnected rooms, splashing enemies with explosive elixirs, solving various puzzles and minigames, and collecting coins to upgrade your equipment. Venture progressively deeper and tackle ever-tougher enemies with up to 36 unique upgrades, refining your tactics along the way.

ALCHEMY 🧪

With 16 elements to choose from and 30 unique reactions, there are numerous strategies you can adopt: from a deadly damage over time build to one focused on powerful explosions. Different enemies have different weaknesses, so plan accordingly...

DUNGEONS 🗺️

With four unique biomes - monsters, magic, robots, and hell - and procedurally generated dungeons, each expedition will present you with a similar but distinct experience. Take on 16 different enemies, each with different mechanics and attacks, as well as 7 randomised minigames/puzzles for varied gameplay.

UPGRADES ✨

Choose from the 36 upgrades available in the skill tree to find your optimal playstyle, whether it be aggressive, defensive, or utility-focused. Spend your hard-earned coins in any of the four quadrants - reaction, experimentation, exploration, and survivability - or on unlocking new elements in the quarry.

COMING SOON 🔮

Chemical Combat is currently in early access, but don't worry - the game is perfectly functional and enjoyable in its current state! Over the coming months, I hope to add some of following features, but none are guaranteed:

  • Boss fights at the end of each floor

  • A few new floors (not 100% guaranteed)

  • Many new reactions (I have ideas for a new summoning playstyle)

  • Logbook entries containing lore, strategies, and more

  • Steam achievements (and potentially cosmetics, although this is less likely)

  • Permanent upgrades, purchasable with a new currency (depending on if the community likes this idea)

  • A revamped upgrade system with more specific paths

  • Shop rooms with collectable items and temporary buffs

  • Improved procedural generation with more varied layouts (this might be difficult to implement, so I'll see)
