What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“"Bits and Boards" is a solo development project and as such it is hard for me to uncover every issue on my own. Releasing the game in Early Access will allow me to effectively incorporate player feedback into my planned development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early access is planned to last between 6 months and a year, although this timeline will be adjusted according to player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release is intended to build on the current experience with added systems and variety. Potential additions include an online sales channel, in-store events, a broader range of decorative items, and expanded customization options, all guided by community feedback and ongoing development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game's full feature list can be found in the "About" section of the store page. There is a link to a roadmap where players can track my current and future plans.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will remain constant during the early access phase of the game, and will increase for the full release of the game, only when coming out of Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will guide balance tweaks, quality-of-life priorities, and the selection of new features. The game's Discord server will serve as the primary hub for feedback and bug reports. In addition I plan to keep a regular eye on Steam forums and discussion boards.”

About This Game

Bits and Boards puts you behind the counter of a bustling neighbourhood game store.

You will be in charge of everything that happens on, under, and after that counter. Stock the latest hits, charm every customer, and expand your thriving business.

Manage Your Shop

Keep shelves filled with the board-game classics, hot new TCG boosters, retro consoles, and quirky indie gems. Use daily sales data and seasonal trends to decide what—and how much—to reorder before popular items run out.

Hire Staff & Automate

Cashiers speed up the queue, restock workers keep your shelves full and storage workers keep your boxes tidy. The right team lets the shop hum along even during peak hours.

Satisfy Every Customer

Shoppers walk in with budgets, wish-lists, and comfort needs. Meet (or miss) those requirements and they’ll leave glowing (or scathing) reviews that directly affect your store’s reputation.

Expand & Upgrade

Profits unlock new floor space, furniture, decorations and a variety or items to display in your shop. Each upgrade opens fresh mechanics and passive buffs to boost your store’s performance.

Level Up & Perk Up!

As your store earns profits, it will level up and grant perk points. Spend these points to unlock powerful passive bonuses or brand-new features for your shop!
