What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re releasing Requiem of Dread in Early Access because we want to develop this game alongside our players. As a small team of students, Early Access provides an opportunity to refine gameplay, balance mechanics, and test new content based on direct feedback from the community. Our goal is to use this collaboration to ensure the game evolves into a fun and well-rounded rogue-lite experience. By involving players early, we can prioritize the features and improvements that matter most to the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The full release will be early 2026, so Early Access will be one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more handcrafted dungeons, new enemy types, additional bosses, and a wider range of upgrades to provide more variety and replayability. In addition, plans are to refine existing mechanics, improve visual and audio polish, and enhance animations for a more immersive experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Requiem of Dread is a fully playable alpha build that includes the core gameplay features. It currently offers:

-Three handcrafted dungeon maps with unique environments
-A variety of enemies and challenging boss fights
-An upgrade system for weapons and buffs
-Pixel-art visuals and a melodic horror soundtrack

Players can expect a fun and functional experience, though some areas, such as balancing, animations, and content variety, are still a work in progress. For more details about the current features, refer to the 'About This Game' section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will be free to play forever.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ll rely on community comments and reviews to guide the development of Requiem of Dread. Your feedback will help us identify what works well, what needs improvement, and which new features or adjustments would improve the overall experience. By sharing your thoughts, you’ll directly influence future updates and improvements.”

About This Game

The minimalistic gameplay and the retro pixel-art makes it easy to get started and deep dive into the dark worlds of Requiem of Dread.

Embark on an adventure into the darkness to defeat foes and bosses with increasing difficulty.

Fight your way through 3 handcrafted dungeon maps, from haunted graveyards, monster-filled forests to the empty tombs in the pyramids.

Beware of what you will find there! We composed a melodic horror sound that will companion you through the exciting experience.

This is a student project made in Godot 4.3. In a group of four students, we had two months to learn and adapt different techniques and create this alpha version.

The music is handcrafted and composed to immerse the player into a world of death, destruction and discomfort. The bosses will do everything to keep you on the edge of your seat, so don't take too much time to appreciate their animations. The skill tree allows you to spend your collected coins on buffs. Open the skill tree, go on a shopping spree and come back to finally kill the reaper!

Controls: Play with mouse and keyboard.
