What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're releasing in Early Access to involve the community in shaping the final version of Sound Blocks. While the core features for making music (displayed in the trailer) are fully functional, we want player feedback to fine-tune systems, refine experimental features (such as the arrangement tool), expand the sound library and polish the overall experience. Your input will be crucial in making Sound Blocks the best it can be.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“6-8 Months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of Sound Blocks, we’re planning the following.
1. Larger sound library of kits and instruments
2. Refined versions of experimental features (e.g arrangement tool)
3. More scales/modes and an easier way to switch between them
4. Performance optimizations and removing bugs we uncover during early access
5. More polish across the board (UI/UX, Interactions, Animations)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of Sound Blocks has all the features displayed in the trailer and about this section functioning as intended (although some sound patches may differ) - but certain experimental features (not shown in the trailer) such as custom drum kits, scale/key change options and video export functionality have bugs that need to be fixed.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the early access version is discounted.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a community on discord where we discuss features, bugs and suggestions. We also intend to share music made with Sound Blocks in the discord and do creative feedback sessions.”

About This Software

Sound Blocks is a groundbreaking music composition app for Mac, Windows and Linux. You simply place blocks of sound anywhere on the grid, connect them together and play!

It's a beautifully animated experience that really brings out the visual character of sounds — (kind of like synesthesia).

You can add 'Control Blocks' to your sequence that act as modifiers for speed, time, randomization and more. Using these tools, you can create intricate musical machines that loop in interesting ways.

Who is it for? Can I use it if I'm not a musician?

Sound Blocks is for anyone who wants to dive into music production, whether you're a child, non-musician, gamer or a professional music producer — it has something for everyone. The workflow is super intuitive and playful — no prior music experience needed.
