“Exactly The Glorious Emo Cringefest It Sounds Like”
TheGamer

“A unique blend of narrative-driven gameplay, pulse-pounding rhythm action, and a healthy dose of emo and goth nostalgia. More than just a game, it’s an experience—a cathartic journey through the life of Ash.”

About This Game

A narrative-driven rhythm game that pays homage to British emo and goth subcultures, I Write Games Not Tragedies explores the concept of catharsis through narrative, (dark) humour and (loud) music.

Play as Ash in narrative levels and experience his story from baby bat in the 2000s to elder emo in the 2020s, via addiction in the 2010s, with awkwardness, humour and romance along the way.

Get out all of the angst out in rhythm levels by hitting lyrics to the beat and singing (or screaming) along to get a high score!

I Write Games Not Tragedies is created by Vicky Wong and Julia Mascetti, with music by Megan Valentine, The Lonely Harps Club, Gutty, and Kzar.

Voice acting by Jacqui Bardelang.
