Why Early Access?

“Working Engine but only has populated 1/20th (16 islands were built in the first launch of early access). Get it before its final release version for reduced price. I give you a reduced price game that is planned to have further expansion built. I do not plan to have a micro-transactions, if you bought "Fari Stjornu" its yours and the patches and new content until the final version will be free of charge. I have already played all the games, they now bore me, and now my time is devoted into going to building this game. Planned expansions patches are written in the "How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?" for detailed goals. One Steam work employee told me to just point at the store description but another told me I have to tell what is in the goals for this game are in this tab, It was like the DMV, jokes aside. Goals include planning to populate the open world with a couple hundred islands in a humongous open world role playing game. The new islands will provide a more challenging and tougher enemies that require better gear but at the same time the new islands will have towns that have merchants for unlocking better gear. The game is not hard to produce but requires a lot of time and coming down into the computer terminal and write the mind dulling scripts(mind dulling like doing school work), it is not as easy as writing a book, it is like sewing things into the engine of the game with the scripts. Other lesser goals are planning to add more options for combat such as magic staff and shield and sword animations and weapon arch-types. Fishing and new ships built into this game are planned. I am planning to have an in-game house that you may unlock through becoming a hero of the realm. I have already played many other online role playing games for thousands of hours and and I have played video games over decades of years, I have played many arcade games like first-person-shooter and other Indie games but they were only short lived treats compared to massive multiplayer online role playing games. I played many Indie games and found them to be a treat aside from the bread and butter of what I was usually play. I now mainly work on this unity engine game until my mind succumbs to boredom after about 2 months of writing c+ code (boredom is a real thing and requires me to resharpen my mind by taking breaks). I now build onto this solid foundation of a game, my game testers said its the foundation. Well this was written in "How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?" but the Lords of Steam demand I clarify it in this tab. The progress is calculated to be slow as it is a 1 man team, but if nothing changes and I can make no promises but likely: "slow but surely" I am building this game "one foot in front of the other". I have a lot of time on my hands and plan to weave this game on the unity engine is what I'm going to do with my time while I collect disability checks from the United States government. I do not work and write video games after work, I can devote myself to making this game with all the free time I have.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It is planning to be built over 3 years but it could be 4 years or 5 years. New major updates will be released and the final game is planned not to cause a desync of the save file as new content/patches will add to the save file so the save file will be valid thru new updates. Build your character in early access version 1 and new patches will not break the save. Continue your character in patch version 2.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version is a humongous open world adventure with hundreds of islands. The final version is planed to have a few ships you can buy with in-game currency and a lot of generic sailing, sea farer mechanics and content. This list of planned items are in the following paragraph but no promises can be made that I may complete them. Big fishes to be caught by harpoon and fishing rod fishing. Ships are planned to carry grapple hooks and a container that stores loot that is found floating as lost cargo. Ship inventory barrels. New items that can be activated like a consumable but will not be consumed such as bandages that heals slightly over time but is not removed like potions or food. Ranged weapon items. New gear for your character and all the units in the game will wear. This game is going planed to use a matrix system map travel to fast travel to an "arch map" and each "arch map" will host different islands where you will use your boat within the "arch map" to discover treasures and fight new enemies and do all the things and activities that the "arch map" provides. The game is planned to have 16-20 arch maps that host sub maps (islands). The game doesn't just use ships and islands for exploration, it has sea legs and get on and off boats. New weapon arch types(the magic staff, and shields fighting style) and weapon models, equip able gear models to come for the sea legs part of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Barebones of the game have been built. You can read the description in the store page for more info of its current state.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The early access of the game only cost 1/7th of the final version and the final release is to cost 7x the price of the early access version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will listen to any advice that is not cringe and can build islands at request. I am only 1 man that works on this project as a hobby but time is not a problem. This game is most likely to take up my time for the next couple of years and I am free to work on this game since I collect disability. I grown bored of playing other games as I have played all of them for many years and now devote myself to making this game as my next challenge to take up my time. This game is only built by 1 man but other games have been made by 1 man and been successful and enjoyed. About This Game

Fari Stjornu is a game about sailing, fighting and trading.  It is a simple role playing game with level up and experience, loot and coins.  I started this game as a hobby after playing all the major role playing games.  This game is mainly inspired after seeing role playing games in real time strategy editor player made maps.  Start washed ashore on an island and grab a weapon to start your role playing game.

The game uses three ability combat, that runs on almost any mouse with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel button.  The game uses a basic ~dozen buttons on the keyboard built with simplicity.  This game also functions with a gamepad.

The Controls are written in the game and can be found from the menu screen.  The game manual is in the main menu -> options -> how to play.

This game saves data when a player leaves the game world to the main menu.

The game begins with a short intro followed by you having to create a character in the character creator menu.  Start the game on the first island and obtain a ship to start your open world role playing game adventure.

New updates in the future of this game will include fishing, ai companion, new maps with new islands, new gear, new weapon arch-types, new boats and owning a house.

Get this game now for a greatly reduced price and enjoy the free updates for free before this game is in its final version that will cost 7x more.

Works with Steam Deck(selecting proton in the [game]->[properties]->[compatibility])(or have your steam deck updated).  The unity service cloud save function only works with Apple id or Unity Player ID (NOT google sign-in unless you have a secure browser(such as playing this game on Steam Deck's desktop mode).  Also, in the steam deck web browser if you choose Apple id you have to tap the box that doesn't appear that is actually hidden directly beneath the email text box after you enter the email.

The cloud save function of this game works as intended on windows desktops and can use all the options for signing in the Unity Cloud Save.

This game DOES NOT require a Unity cloud save account and can save data to a local machine terminal.

REPORT for new content - MAY 21 2025

This game has grown a large amount.  It now includes two new quadrants from the original game and instead of being 250MB file size it is now 750 MB file size.  It now has a map to help you find your way, || and a little RTS mini game mode that uses the same models as the RPG story mode of this game but with an RTS eagle eye mini game for fun. ||  It has a second optional starting spawn zone for those who want to change the intro but the second sandbox is part of the whole realm of the FARI STJORNU world and can be accessed from the original mode by sailing to it.  The game still has full controller support so you can play it from the couch without any problems.  The UI is weaved to work with the gamepad.
