About This Game

Escape Camp Stranded is a single player horror game set at night, in a campground.

There was a recurring nightmare I had as a child about this place my father drove us by one summer. "Camp Stranded, what a horrible name for a campsite." I remember him saying. There was all sorts of construction going on, and I remember seeing a big hole in the ground where they were digging. We had to stop and talk to a police officer right outside Camp Stranded because there was road work on the opposite side of the hill ahead and the officer had to use his radio to confirm he could let us travel up and over the hill. When we were stopped, I remember looking in the window of the Welcome cabin and seeing a skinny man with a book pressed into his face. Not like metaphorically speaking. The book was closed, and he was just standing there holding it flat to the front of his face. I remember feeling like he was looking through the book at me. I couldn't speak right then and by the time I could speak, I never really felt comfortable coming up with words to explain what I saw to my parents. Over the rest of our vacation, I didn't think about it much.

When we returned home, my nightmares began. It didn't happen every night, but it did happen that first night home in my own bed. Every few weeks or so it would happen again. I'm in Camp Stranded at night and no one is around except some freak running around terrorizing me. I need to escape, but I can never seem to find my way out of that place before the sun rises, or the freak gets me. There are notes left around that I have found in my dreams to help find the escape, but I could never understand very much of it. They were the worst nightmares.

The nightmares stopped after high school, when I moved out for college. I spent many nights before bed hoping that they wouldn't ever come back, as they were so vivid and stuck in my memory. During my last semester before moving back home, I tried to remember all I could so I could have a plan if that nightmare ever returned.

It didn't take long for them to return after coming home. First night in my old bed and it came back. I have to find a way out of there. I need to get out this time. If I can escape, maybe my nightmares will end.

This game contains jump scares.
